High School Becomes First In PA To Adopt Transgender Bathroom Policy
CBS Philly ^

Posted on 04/28/2016 5:43:30 AM PDT by Phillyred

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa (CBS) – Some people never give the signs on the bathrooms a second thought, but that’s not the case for transgender students like Evan Petersen, a junior at Springfield Township high school.

“I definitely didn’t wanna use women’s bathroom, and I was scared to use the men’s bathroom because I wasn’t out at school yet,” said Peterson. “So I just didn’t go to the bathroom during the whole school day.”

“It’s awful it’s a very bad feeling,” said Christine Settino a teacher. “That’s the kind of thing that makes you want to do something and make change.”

Last week, the Springfield Township School District became one of the first in Pennsylvania to officially adopt a policy allowing transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms of the gender they identify with, not the one on their birth certificates.

“We know this isn’t without controversy,” said Dr. Nancy Hacker, the superintendent. “But regardless, we wanted to make a statement that as a school district, this is who we are, this is what we believe, and we will support all our students, no matter who they believe they are.”

One critic, the Pennsylvania Family Institute, sent Eyewitness news a statement of its own that reads in part:

“In those areas, the only relevant reason we have different facilities is biological sex, not our beliefs, feelings, or attractions.”

But others say it’s a matter of equality.

“For the lucky ones of us born as the gender we identify as, we get to be who we truly are, so for some students who don’t feel that way, it can ruin their high school experience,” said Cate Ryan, student council president.

I feel for you. I would gently add that this needed a barf alert, though... :)

If someone wants to do something as drastic as trying to change their sex, then they should realize that there will be all kinds of consequences for this insane action. Bathrooms, just one of many. Why should 99.99% of us have to accommodate these mentally ill people?

...we get to be who we truly are...

Yes, and you "truly are" a mentally ill individual who needs to be treated, not enabled to bask in your illness.

Except the vast majority who is very uncomfortable and opposed to this.

Notice again that it’s a woman that is dictating this.

“I believe Evan is a biological girl so he doesn’t have the same equipment as the other guys.””

Good golly - we need score cards to keep track of who is who from one day to the next. This is so SICK! So - if this “thing” is a girl, “it” can’t go into a stall with no one aware of what “its” doing? I’m just a female - HAVE BEEN ALL MY LIFE - but aren’t there stalls in men’s restrooms?

They don’t want separate restrooms - they want to use whatever restroom they choose. And not just restrooms but showers and dressing rooms.

And it’s women “leaders” as in this case that are pushing this.

SPRINGTIME FOR GERMANY TOWNSHIP, Pa (BS) – Some students never give the signs on the bathrooms a second thought, but that’s not the case for trans-species students like Rover Shepherd, a junior at Springtime for Germany Township high school.

“I definitely didn’t wanna use a human bathroom, and I was scared to lift my leg near a tree or hydrant because I wasn’t out at school yet,” said Shepherd. “So I just didn’t go to the bathroom or even sniff anyone’s crotch during the whole school day.”

“It’s awful it’s a very bad feeling,” howled Michael Vick, a teacher. “That’s the kind of thing that makes you want to fight for change.”

Last week, the Springfield Township School District became one of the first in Pennsylvania to officially adopt a policy allowing trans-species students to use the facilities or litter boxes of the species they identify with, not the one on their human or American Kennel Club certificates.

“We know this isn’t without controversy,” said Dr. Lassie Trainer, the superintendent. “But regardless, we wanted to make a statement that as a school district, this is who we are, this is what we believe, and we will support all our students, no matter what they believe they are. The haters who oppose this are barking up the wrong tree.”

One critic, the Pennsylvania Family Institute, sent Eyewitness news a statement of its own that reads in part:

“In those areas, the only relevant reason we have different facilities is biological species, not our beliefs, feelings, or attractions.”

But others growl that it’s a matter of equality.

“For the lucky ones of us born as the species we identify as, we get to be who we truly are, so for some students who don’t feel that way, it can be ruff,” said Princess Poodle, student council president.

This whole mess has screwed up my mind....I didn’t mean to make it sound like “it” should be able to use the men’s restroom but that’s the way it came out... What on earth is keeping “it” from using the ladies room to begin with if that’s what “it” is? I just can’t wrap my brain around this crapola!

Hey - how about ONE restroom that accommodates ALL OF THE FREAKS? Togetherness! Problem solved.

Exactly. When the butch lesbo at my last job got married to her butch lesbo partner, every sentence out of her mouth started with “My wife...”

I hear she’s since “divorced” and every sentence now starts with “My boyfriend...”

I’m sure she does it for the shock value, hoping the listener is stupid enough to bite.

I completely ignored her when I worked there.

“Support all students no matter who they believe they are”

So they would support Christian students taking issue with this? Yes?

Private school, FRiend, and if that’s not possible, homeschool.

But in the meantime, get out there and make some noise. My suggestion is that if this girl wants to use the boys’ bathroom, she should be FORCED to shower with the boys. My guess is that she wants to have her cake and eat it too, don’t let her get away with it.

Let her go thru what the other girls may now have to go thru thanks to her action.

I agree that she needs mental health treatment, but they don’t allow mental health workers to treat gender confusion as a problem anymore. In fact I believe the idea is being pushed and applauded by teachers and social workers, and in some cases, parents.
I think these kids just want attention.

All the people involved in this that have allowed this kind of a thing to happen Kama they are enablers. The parents who allow this and enable this are themselves guilty of child abuse.

So, when are we going to hear about muslim women being forced to use the same bathroom as men? Will that make the news?
