If Trump Is Nominee.... [my opus]
Self | 5/01/05 | Calpublican

Posted on 05/01/2016 4:50:43 PM PDT by Calpublican

As a 5th generation Republican and Lifelong Conservative the political events of recent years have been frustrating. None are more frustrating than this election cycle.

We prayed and hoped for a real Conservative to counter the leftward pull of Obama. We wanted someone to pull the country to the right so we could possibly be, at least, center America, where we typically like to land in national politics.

We have had several Conservative candidates this cycle, but many who have called themselves "Conservative" have coalesced behind a man who is the farthest thing from Conservative as is imaginable and why? Because of FEAR.

Fear of the other, fear of violence, fear of immigrants. These are valid fears, but when fear turns to hate judgement is clouded. That is what has happened. Instead of standing by principles, "Conservatives" have been drawn to hateful rhetoric. Even after Trump has disavowed his own rhetoric to the NYT& others, the seed has been planted. If one wonders how despots rise to power, this is how. Exactly.

Trump's positions are all Liberal/Leftwing, some experts speculate Neo- Proto- or Ur-Fascist as well . He did not magically become Conservative and he has given ample evidence of this---repeatedly. But the fearful will not or cannot hear it.

If Trump is the nominee which Liberal will I choose? I choose Hillary and will, for the first time in my life, vote for a Democrat for president. Why? Because if Trump wins, pretending to be Conservative, he will destroy Conservatism for 20 yrs. He is not pulling down-ticket Conservatives so his administration would be Liberal to the max.

It is a difficult choice but I am absolutely convinced it is the correct choice. If I have to vote Liberal, I vote strategically Liberal.

You turned from God and went straight to Hillary? Man are you dumb. Then you accuse others of ‘turning from God.’ Some Christian you are. Our whole Republican party have been pretending to be conservatives for decades and that didn’t stop you from voting for them. Not a very convincing OPUS, sorry. Adios loser.

Wouldn’t voting Constitution or Libertarian be a better choice than voting for somebody who, upon getting into the white house, will screech about misogyny every time one of her actions is questioned?

fear of immigrants. These are valid fears, but when fear turns to hate judgement is clouded

Calling illegals immigrants is liberal. Liberals do it to muddy the waters between legal and illegal. Those that are here illegally should have never been allowed to come here and stay here and need to be deported. They are illegal aliens with no right to be here, no one has checked them out to see if they are terrorists, cartel drug smugglers, murderers, rapists, etc. Many are violent criminals with long criminal records in Mexico and or in the U.S. and there is no way to know if they are coming here to commit serious crimes. If they cannot go through our immigration process to be checked out they should not be here.

I do fear the illegal criminals that cross all the time where I live. I fear them because people in this area have been murdered and kidnapped by illegals, and there is a multitude of other things like home invasion, burglary committed by illegals in my area. Many are armed and dangerous so yes I do have a healthy fear of them as everyone should. Illegals from many countries illegally cross this border, many from countries that sponsor terrorism, so we likely have terrorist illegals as well. No one really knows who is coming here illegally and what their intent is here and that is the problem with people coming here without going through the legal process.

Illegals walk all over our laws to come here, so when they get here they have no respect for our laws, this country or our citizens. They feel it is fine to hate our country, our people and many feel free to wave the flag of Mexico in our faces while rioting in our streets. They are not immigrants, they are invaders. They do not want to assimilate, they want to take part of our country and if you listen to them you would know that.

Immigrants come here legally, want to assimilate and earn their way in this country. They are willing to go through the legal process, and happy to have an opportunity to be here. They spend a lot of time and money doing this the legal way and allowing illegals to waltz in at will is putting them ahead of the good people, the real immigrants who are trying to come here the correct way and for the right reasons.

It is not out of hatred that I want the borders secure and all illegals deported. It is out of love for this country that I want both done. It has nothing to do with "hating immigrants" and everything to do with keeping out illegal invaders.

Your feelings about this issue explains why you are willing to vote for Hillary, you know she will not secure the border nor will she enforce our immigration laws. You are putting the criminal illegals ahead of our citizens and our country. You are showing hatred with clouded judgement, hatred of our country and our people. How very sad. I am not sure how you can think you are a conservative.

I have my suspicions that a very high number of those that are strongly against Trump are really supporters of open borders and illegal immigration.

Nothing wrong with making money. I do it, too. I don’t try to (intentionally or accidentally) pass that off as something done out of the goodness of my heart, which is what the impression given by the poster who mentioned the rink did, whether or not they intended to. I’m just sorting out that Trump’s actions there were not so altruistic as profitable.

We all reserve that right. But first we need to help get Trump there. That's the decision that has been made. The man is a decent American, and it's important for that to be understood, because he's not the "demon" portrayed by the hysterical rantings of the Media, NeverTrump crowd, Ted Cruz campaign, and GOPe.

Vote Trump!

Traditional political scientists say you should ask voters to vote for you. A smaller group believes it’s better to insult as many potential supporters as you possibly can.

Traditional conservatives believe in personal responsibility, and taking responsibility for your own actions (or inactions). A smaller, more "progressive" group believes it's better to make your responsibilities someone else's problem, ultimately.

Your vote -- however you elect to utilize it, or surrender it -- is your own responsibility, and yours alone. If you can't handle that, don't try lumbering or guilting me with the duty of handling it for you.

You're either up for the job, or you aren't. Not my problem, either way.

Just for the record, American nationalism with a tinge of isolationism, is actually a very paleo-conservative concept. George Washington would be appalled at American interventionism.

Additionally even William F Buckley was in favor of defensive tariffs.

Also, I have nearly all my life rejected the idea that we should massively subsidize the defense of Europe, while they engage in economic aggression against us. Let them have to make the “guns vs butter” choices that we have had to make.

And if being in NATO means we have to defend Turkey, then GTH out of NATO.

And I think Cruz conservatives (like myself) need to get onboard with Trump to make sure we have some skin in the game and can hold his feet to the fire on social conservative issues, such as nominating originalist SCOTUS justices (which is not a neo-conservative idea, but it is a paleo-conservative one).

A lot of that “If I can’t have my guy I will vote to destroy the country” in that message.

An infinite number and amount of This. The increasingly red-faced and huffy Cruzers still standing -- rapidly dwindling though their number may be -- increasingly sound like:

Their realistic choices, come November, will boil down to either:

a.) The single most conniving and corrupt career Democratic politician of this generation, actively complicit in the commission and/or cover-ups of murders, sexual assaults, and grand larcenies various and sundry; OR --

b.) The Republican nominee.

Anyone genuinely feeling the passive-aggressive need to be begged and/or pleaded with to vote for "B" is already more than halfway of a mind to go with "A," to begin with.
