like i said several times sargon- you are overreacting- please read post number 209 to see why- I’ll not keep addressing the same complaints over and over again-

and let’s not forget- we also are witnessing democrats who are really angry at being lied to by their savior dear leader- many many people are hurting=- people were told if they liked their doc they could keep them- that their HC would be affordable and not go up- etc- but what happened was many millions were fired because of obamacare-

The times aren’t’ as dire as people are making it out to be- Democrats learned they were lied to when they were fed the line ‘hope and change’ and they know hilarly will be obamaonsteroids

[[It gonna take iron willpower to overcome my loathing of Ted Cruz and vote for him.]]

That’s the difference between us- I will vote whomever the candidate is- because first and foremost I am ‘neverhilarly’

[[Unless Hillary gets indicted right before the election Cruz will lose. President Hillary is all Cruz’s scummy sleazy vile legalistic trickery will gain him.]]

That’s your opinion, but if you think millions of people weren’t just as passionate as you when the other contested primaries occurred, then you’d be wrong- politics has always been a very passionate issue, and always been hot and heavy and ugly- and you can bet that many who’s candidates didn’t win i na contested said “Never-so-and-so” yet when hte general rolled around they actually did support him as proven by the fact that more people had voted for the losing candidate before the general, and now i nthe general they gained the majority over the dems- Had the majority of those who said ‘never-so-and-so’ (or felt that way at least) stayed home and not voted, the contested ballot winner would not have won the general-

I’m sure there was the same fear then as there is now, that the nomination had been ‘stolen’ from them- to suggest that this is a unique sentiment ignores just how passionate people are about politics, and how heated it’s always been- heck- look at some of the crap said back during the early president’s runs- it was brutal-

GREAT POST!

I wish that my own turning away from Ted Cruz was so moving a story. For me it was a simple thing actually... Ted Cruz and his wife and campaign dunned me, begged me, harassed me for donations EVERY SINGLE DAY. Donald Trump did not.

That spoke volumes to me as I’ve never been wealthy. I’ve lived from paycheck to paycheck most of my life. Donald Trump’s positions and policies make sense to me. They are well thought out and can work. Ted Cruz’s just appears to be more of the same that we have seen for several decades now. Only wrapped up in rhetoric about the Constitution and ‘conservatism’.

However Ted Cruz is a Lawyer and I have had the unfortunate need of a lawyer before. I overheard him once say that all Lawyers are ‘hired guns’ and work for their clients needs and desires despite their own personal ideals. To me that smacked of flexible ethics and only one thing mattered... the almighty dollar.

And that is now what I recognize in Ted Cruz. He is a Lawyer/Politician and he will do or say anything to get those dollars. Even sell out his ethics and ideals it appears.

FR has brought that division upon itself, substituting insults and barbs for reasoned debate. How Democratic Party-like.

In case it hasn't been said before, Democrats stick to the winner, which is why they win. Duh!

Stick with the winners, and don't forget incrementalism. Piece by piece, day by day. That's how they restrain you're freedoms. Please be aware of this.

Sitting in a corner and saying " I won't budge" even when the candidate clearly and unprecedentedly says that he will defend the Second amendment and conceal carry rightsis just well, stubborn. Please stop being so.

If you had joined FR more than a dozen years prior to when you did, you would have been privy to THE most indepth posts about the VAT, the FAIR TAX and the FLAT tax.
You may believe that you know exactly what Trump's tax plans are ( you don't ! ) and what Cruz's are.

The simple facts are these...Cruz wants a FLAT TAX that does NOT cover what the government needs for a barebones, elimination of almost every Department budget. And on top of THAT, he wants a VAT TAX, that will close almost every business, make almost everyone barely scraping by, as in Venezuela, and won't get rid of the IRS at all, but expand it, due to the VAT.

Re Trump....he was talking about himself, NOT about his tax plan, which is very much like Reagan's!

The taxes we don't have don't cover bare-bones expense of government. Take a gander at the national debt.

Who knows what Trump believes he could “walk it back” at any time. I'm an Ayn Rand reading capitalist pig when it comes to money. I don't trust anyone who says that the most wastefully group of power drunk money spenders in history can have more of his money. Did Reagan ever say he was ok with paying more in taxes?

Oh, you're one of those; someone who believes FICTION is reality, or should be.

Okay, that makes responding to you with a civil, factual post useless. LOL

you said.....#202 I honestly still don't know what it was, but that's fine. My view of the internet has always been that the people who own/run websites have the right to make their own rules. I was just pointing out that there is discipline of some kind being handed out, and I'm not sure the lines are clear for those who wish to continue making substantive posts.

yes they do! and I do not have to continue to pay $$$ to fund ------

The Bat Ladys Husband

I assume this makes you Cincinnatus?

I understand you being upset that there is little intelligent debate, but here's the problem:

The race is between Trump and Cruz. It's not between 2 honest men ... so there aren't 2 sets of ideas about which to debate. Cruz hates Donald, and other than some theatrics in his short Senate career, there is no man behind the on-paper platform.

This primary is not about 2 sets of ideas, and that's Cruz's fault, not Trump's.

There was a time when you really could hash over the following: That Cruz would be great but isn't ready for prime time ... give him 8 years with Trump at the helm, and have Cruz take over when he learns how to communicate with people.

But Cruz proved himself incapable of that, and later starting offering us evidence left and right that he is a liar and a fake. You note that he never addresses that -> now he merely tears down Trump ... that's ALL he does, and that bird isn't landing on anything.

So you really need to look at Cruz, not Trump nor Freepers for why things have degraded.

Looked at another way, where the conversation involves Cruz or the Establishment, there is no longer an intelligent debate to even have.

Trump's all we got this time around, and if you get off your purist horse, you might see that he's actually pretty damn good ... and where he is pretty damn good on what he says ... you can be pretty sure he's actually going to fight for those things ... and where he fights for things, as you've seen, he tends not to often lose or walk away with nothing.

No not at all, I donate when I have the money to do so. Maxed out credit cards are unfortunately a way of life right now. I’m really, really hoping that Donald Trump’s election will turn things around here in America. For me as well as all the rest of us citizen/taxpayers.

Thousands of free loaders, dozens of paying members. Ok, maybe hundreds who pay the freight. Still waiting to see those with "Trump" in their handle showing up on the donor list.

So I know point you to onyx, so you can eat your own words.

Late to this party, please forgive me.

For starter's the Donor's List is never a complete showing of Donors' screen names.2016 Q1 — 744 donors (340 shown). I will attest that I am a $50 Monthly Donor, yet I'm not on that List at the link.

Secondly, few if any, have Trump or Cruz in "their handles". I'm not sure what that's supposed to indicate?

I can attest to the fact that SEVERAL MEMBERS on Mr. Trump's Ping List, *are* loyal donors, Monthly Donors and 300 Club Members.

I think the same applies to Cruz supporters, but Trump has several more supporters here.

You need only check Free Republic Caucus 2016 04/28 (100th & Last Day) by DoughtyOne for proof.

I hope this helps.

I am always amazed at people who want to explain why they are leaving.

I would just leave——no one would care to know why and I don’t blame them.

Just go.
