28-year-old man gunned down at a Fairfield gas station earlier this month was apparently killed in a dispute over an engagement ring, and the brutal shooting was captured on store surveillance video.
Adarius Elon Williams, a father of four who celebrated a birthday the day before he was killed, died April 8 in the parking lot of the Citgo station on Milstead Road. Vincent Washington, 25, and Barbara Washington, 31, are charged with murder in Williams' death. Additionally, Vincent Washington is charged with first-degree kidnapping because the woman who drove him to the gas station said she wanted to leave, and he threatened her with her life.
The Washington siblings, who lost their own sister to murder last year, are set to be in court this afternoon for their preliminary hearings. AL.com has obtained the store surveillance video of the killing, which shows a man with a towel wrapped around his head – identified by police as Vincent Washington – shoot Williams multiple times, nine of those shots fired almost point-blank after while Williams had already collapsed on the ground. Police have said Williams was not armed.
According to police and court records, the brother and sister told a friend of Barbara Washington they would buy her gas if she drove them to the Citgo station that day. They were going to meet Williams because he wanted the engagement ring back that he had given to Barbara Washington. Williams' fiancé at the time of his death was also with him at the gas station the day he was killed.

It’s amazing to me that the Alabama online newspapers are an extremist liberal agenda sites.
The phrase in the headline “War on Violence” had to be intentionally ironic. Though these days with public education one never knows. Lets violently put an end to violence! Its an easy war to wage. All who resist are the enemy!
I am tired of all these wars on and all these appointed czars. Drug czar, poverty czar, cyber security czar etc. This is America we don’t have czars and we don’t wage wars against ourselves. Except, we do.
This is how it goes. We are waging a war against poverty, a war on drugs, a war against illiteracy, a war on terror, a war on cancer; we are in a culture war and some think even a war on women...and all we get for it are bigger government, higher deficit, higher taxes, and excess violence.

If I had a nickel for every time I have seen school surveillance video of "urban youth" walking down the hallway and then suddenly bursting into fisticuffs, I'd be Trump rich. You can watch the replay over and over and get no clues from physical posture or gestures, just boom, an escalation from no apparent conflict to near mayhem. It is something I do not see in white schools. There is conflict there, to be sure, but it follows a well worn path of escalation that allows teachers and, law enforcement, if necessary, to intercede.

The late Mr. Williams and his current girlfriend met his former girlfriend and her brother at a gas station, in order that Mr. Williams might request an engagement ring be transferred from the former girlfriend to the present one.

Yes and no. There's no doubt LBJ had a hand in destroying the black family unit, but let's be super frank: there has been a non stop crime spree by African Americans, beginning immediatlely upon emancipation and continuing to this day.

Negroes were migrating from the Southland to the North in the 40s and 50s. They were becoming the new Immigrant class and working their way into mainstream White society, just as generations of Irishmen and Swedes and Czechs and Chinese had done. Then came LBJ and the War on Poverty which put a lid on their advancement and enculturation, permanently walling them off from the mainstream society, walling them into their urban ghettos. Instead of the ghettos being a steppingstone to the suburbs and uptown they became Reservations kept under control by the Welfare firewater of the do-gooders.
