AND NOW... amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke... it is time for... that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-The-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he's not retiring until every American agrees with him - do NOT doubt him - with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that's Rush, for those in Rio Linda), the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back - just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America's anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A real man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander-in-Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do - host. Get ready to what you were born to do - listen. And post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread.

For the first time in years, I turned him off. I could not take the lachrymose monologues about Cruz. He’s gone and good riddance. He didn’t have a snowball chance in hell of winning either the nomination or the presidency.

I didn’t think Heidi was bad looking either. I thought she was an attractive lady.

Hubby thinks it was payback for saying Ted was an immigrant.

Ha. Nope.

-- I think you have put your finger on something. --

The power structure -- politicians, academics, media -- has to tolerate a certain amount of free speech and dissent. Trump was fine, just dissent, as long as he was denied all but his voice. There are numerous examples of characters like this, Ron and Rand Paul, candidates in minor parties (on both ends of the political spectrum). These dissenting voices can be observed, discussed, cajoled and even embraced - as long as they don't take popular hold.

Limbaugh is part of the controlled dissent. A vent on populism, a way for it to blow off steam without effecting any meaningful change.

That way of life is now under pressure. People are waking up to the notion that they have been manipulated and taken advantage of.

I don't know, but no one better try and dodge Alpha Gore.

From a guy who smears his own feces all over the walls of his underground bunker (aka padded wall room).

Rush has mentioned CNN because there is a report that they eclipse FOX in ratings and he suggests it is because they have changed their format. They now have non democrats on and do not demean them. I am watching CNN for good political reporting on the various races. Their panels are no more biased than are the ones on FOX. I wish FOX would become interesting again but that will take some doing.

Heidi is attractive but she has a permanent nasty expression on her face. I think it reflects her personality.

It’s funny but last night I thought of this when Cruz practically threw himself on top of his wife and in a typically phony way feigned passion.

Caller is most definitely clueless.

What does the caller think of what the media has been doing to Trump, starting with the Megyn Kelly spat?

” Limbaugh is part of the controlled dissent. A vent on populism, a way for it to blow off steam without effecting any meaningful change.”

Rush wouldn’t be keeping his meetings with politicians secret from his listeners if he wasn’t up to no good.

-- The tea party was never a united front. Rush thinks conservatives should just be one mindless block doing what some leader says without questions. The conservative movement is not dead but it is supporting Trump now. --

Of course "conservatives" are all over the map - they value individual independence and personal accountability. The TEA party was about taxes, broad agreement there. The party insiders co-opted the name, and bamboozled the public into putting resources where they would not advance the "smaller government" agenda.

-- The Cruzers are just sore that their guy lost. --

I think that's a mixed bag too. Many are true believers in Cruz's message, which was a good one and I subscribe to it; others are #Never Trump for various reasons (big overlap between that group and the first); and a minority are concerned because Cruz was their ticket on the gravy train.

I probably shouldn't pile on, but I will - I think Cruz was a phony and a con man. The sooner he fades into irrelevance, the better.

I have reasons for not seeing Trump as a bigtime con man, but I do accept that many see him otherwise. Mostly I choose to not interact with them.

IMO, Cruz may have dropped out because there is something to the Lee Harvey story.

I doubt it but you never know. If his Dad did know LHO back in the day, I doubt he would have ever told Felito about it, so Teddy would think it wasn't true, and he therefore wouldn't drop out over it. It wouldn't be something to drop out about anyway. If his dad was working with pro or anti Castro groups in 1963, it would not mean he had any involvement with the assassination plot.

Cruz did go ape about it, and mischaracterized (lied) about what Trump said. Trump said that Senior was involved with LHO and no one was following up on it. He should have stayed away from it, IMO, and he should have said "may have been" based on photos and the fact that he was in New Orleans at the time. So it was not outrageous to ask why the press were not looking into it. Still, with a 15 point lead, I thought it was unnecessary to get into that issue.

Cruz's reaction epitomized why I have come to dislike him intensely. And what he said about Trump showed why he can't be brought back to the campaign. He knew what he was saying went beyond typical mud-slinging. He will be no help in the general election. I will regret what might have been.
