Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Wednesday that he was open to raising the federal minimum wage, breaking with the prevailing view of his party.

“I’m actually looking at that because I am very different from most Republicans,” Mr. Trump said in an interview on CNN’s. “You have to have something that you can live on.”

“He was pretty quick to pull the trigger, now it just remains to be seen if Der Trump veers left or makes a hard left turn.

I’m betting hard left turn.”

I wouldn’t bet against you on this one.

Next he’ll be floating an “Assault Weapons Ban” and “What’s wrong with a Universal Background check?!?!?” from the Donald.

If you need money to live on, then perhaps taxes should be cut rather than a higher minimum wage which will slow the economy even further. I think Trump needs to learn macroeconomics.

I’m waiting to see how this plays out. Remember, Henry Ford started paying his folks enough to buy his cars

Henry Ford made a private decision for his private business to pay more than other businesses. Not because the government required him to. Also, that wasn't so his employees could buy the cars, it was more about labor retention and cutting non-direct labor costs. By the way, how did his pay compare to minimum wage? Oh wait, it didn't - there was no minimum wage until almost 25 years later!

Jim there needs to be a mandated floor on wages since we have no border with an overpopulated third world country. It is politically and socially illogical to not have minimum wage.

Can you trust the governments’ inflation calculator given inflation measures have changed and aren’t really truthful ?

Well, people making minimum wage do not pay federal income taxes, anyway. So, how can we cut their taxes? The best solution would be Cruz’s 10% flat tax, which results in everybody have at least some “skin in the game”. But, no, we couldn’t have that because, Cruz...

Regardless of the wisdom of a minimum wage, I think it should be a state issue. Particularly given the vastly different labor markets/wage structures throughout the country. But no one has ever claimed Trump was a proponent of states rights, or of devolving power to the states from an oppressive federal government.

I saw the interview.

He did the Trump standard "we're going to look at it" and "we're going to do something" tap dance - which means: I'M NOT GOING TO SAY WHAT YOU WANT ME TO SAY BUT I'M GOING TO EXPRESS GENERALIZATIONS ABOUT THE GOAL OF HELPING PEOPLE.

Basically, it's Trump's way of saying, "Yes, sure, mañana."

The media hasn't figured out Trump's speaking style.

I’ve never seen once seen a Free Republic minimum wage eliminator ever acknowledge that having an open border with a third country makes a difference in the minimum wage debate. It’s like you all are brainwashed robots. It gives thinking Americans pause and makes Free Republic look kooky.

You myopic idiot. This isn’t a theoretical class in economics. Having an open border with Mexico makes labor an unlimited resource and that has no value.

Lighten up guys, Mexico is building a wall for us, no one will get across the border.

There’ll be a transcript up soon. As usual Trump makes it easy to grab a line or two to twist what he says.

Yeah, the only time I’ve seen Trump go “states’ rights” was after he got in deep stuff over the North Carolina LGBT bathroom law. Then he said it should be up to the states.

Gun control cave within 6 months.

He's supported the assault weapon ban and longer waiting periods within the last few years, but even going back to his aborted Reform Party flirtation, he's been reasonably pro gun. It is an issue he could bring liberals in with.

The Minimum wage in 1960 was $1.25, with Inflation, the minimum wage should be close to $15.00 an hour.

Why should there a federal minimum wage at all? Isn't it a better issue for the states.
