Donald Trump Won’t Self-Fund General-Election Campaign
WSJ Online ^ | May 4, 2106 | Monica Langley

Donald Trump won't self-fund his general-election campaign, and will instead create a "world-class finance organization," the presumptive Republican nominee said in an interview on Wednesday.

For a campaign expected to cost more than $1 billion, "I'll be putting up money, but won't be completely self-funding, as I did during the primaries," Mr. Trump said. The New York businessman, who did receive some mostly small unsolicited donations, lent his campaign $36 million of the $47 million he spent through March.

That plan represents a shift for Mr. Trump, who has for months portrayed his Republican opponents as "puppets" for relying on super PACs and taking contributions from wealthy donors that he said came with strings attached.

To hell with Becky and Monica and the WSJ anti-Trump brigades. The guy is the first and only to basically self-fund a national primary race. Did Cruz, Hillary, Bernie, Marco, Christie, Bush, Carly, Kasich, or any of the other slew of deposed GOP candidates? You’re darned right they didn’t. They took money from anybody and everybody. Heck, Kasich the mailman’s son even took from Soros.

Now people want Trump to go even further and self-fund a national presidential run? Grow up. Do you also want him to magically write a check and pay off the national debt? Guys that won’t even buy a $25 dollar yard sign have a lot of nerve and huge sense of entitlement. I’ll gladly do what I can to help fund a Trump presidential run, and have also volunteered to serve in any way I can in my state. Those who gripe about the fact he will have to raise funds to help get this country we love turned around remind me of the Bernie supporters who want “free stuff”. There is no free lunch.

>>>So Trump lent himself money for the primary<<<

What’s your point? Did you lend him any money?

No, he lent the money to his campaign organization, and the latter will now be able to repay Mr. Trump, presumably with interest.

So you regarded Trump’s self-funding a good thing?

Trump shouldn’t use his own money for the general.

Of course not. He will now be beholden to contributors.

He’s said at his rallies that fed election law makes him pay his own company for the use of the jet and helicopters. And flying that 757 cost $5,000 an hour in fuel alone.

Super PAC and special interest money may be all he gets (aside from small donations). Read today that the RNC is likely to use the majority of their money on trying to hold the House and Senate and write off the Presidency. Will be interesting to see.

They are so full of it. Mondale lost 49 states but the dems gained seats in congress. This down ticket thing is just another crappy meme.

And apparently not for the primaries either when he pays himself back several millions....

Many wealthy politicians loan money to their campaigns...Nothing new...

He can’t say he is not beholden to anyone anymore.

That's right...He's indebted to himself...He'll be required to do what he tells himself to do...

Trump deserves the RNC as the nominee to get their $$ for all involved for this 2016 election.
Mr. Trump did his part,it's time for the grand old party to stand by the nominee.
We are In it to Win It against Crooked Hildabeast. ;)

It too will help by way of donations to his general campaign coffers! Not the RNC, Trump only!

That’s right. Trump is now the party boss and should treated as such. Some of those folks might need to be educated on how that concept works.
