Fault lines: GOP civil war deepens

Donald Trump is poised to breeze through another round of primary contests this week -- while the Republican Party splinters around him.

Trump's ascent to the top of the GOP, which was capped last week with Ted Cruz's devastating loss in the Indiana primary, happened so fast that even the billionaire himself was surprised. And the whipsawed party establishment now faces immediate choices -- none of which particularly appeal to them.

Will they unite behind their party's standard-bearer? Will they sit out the 2016 campaign? Or will they fight on, in a quixotic quest to undermine Trump?

Trump's opponents are still sorting through the wreckage of the GOP primary season for a path forward. But it has become painfully clear over the past five days that party unification will be tough to come by, if it happens at all. Past presidents, party leaders and prominent Republicans are all choosing sides, from unenthusiastic acceptance (Bob Dole) to pledges not to vote for either party in November (former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Lindsey Graham) to musings about a third-party bid (Bill Kristol).

Open borders/cheap labor is the fault line. But Trump’s on the side of the entire middle and lower economic classes in the U.S.

Good example of money defeating democracy and democracy correcting.

Trump is a non-violent revolution.

Also note how NO other candidates are following the Trump position on these issues. Voters don’t matter! They have to give in to the globalist agenda or they won’t be funded.

Trump exposed the Uniparty that’s been controlling the country. After he’s elected, Paul Ryan and the anyone else voting to fund the Obama agenda needs to go.

Actually, the rank and file are rallying, not splintering. This is a statement based in fear, and then again it is from the Clinton Cable Network.

Sure — there are many many bruises from this pub primary. But the nominee is essentially picked now for all practical purposes.

On the dem side they are still slugging it out. I think there will be many ticked off dems when Hillary takes the nomination given the process they have used to give Hillary delegates even when Bernie has won.

They should be writing a story about potential Dem unrest.

The GOPe has mostly decide to pick up their ball and go home. If Trump wins, he will be the party establishment for the next four years, maybe eight, and the Bushes and the Romneys will be in the rear view mirror. Its time to become the new establishment, and not to sit around enjoying perks. We need to become the establishment in order to get things done that the GOPe and the democrats didn't want done, like cutting spending, getting the budget under control, and engaging our precious special snowflakes out of their safe spaces.

In order to keep this victory, the people who left the republicans in disgust over the years, or never joined, need to get back in the game. You need to be the establishment. Join the party, volunteer for positions. Get things done.
