Alleged? Would-be? Why are reporters always on the criminal’s side?
Yes, especially under the cover of darkness.
To be fair, is it not alleged that an alleged homeowner allegedly shot and killed a thief, also.
Ok, the homeowner shot the suspect who may have been breaking into a pickup truck.
"Authorities also towed away a blue pick up truck that was parked down the street. Deputies say that truck belonged to the suspect."
So, now the truck belonged to the suspect or to the homeowner? How can the homeowner be the suspect since they know he fired the shot. Alleged shooter, maybe, but suspect?
This is from an ABC affiliate probably chock full of twits with journalism or broadcasting degrees and no one can edit an article to ensure that who, what, where, when, and why, are presented in a straight forward, clear, manner ?
The article isn't at all clear. It can be read multiple ways, especially since the truck was parked down the street from where the homeowner fired the shot (was he firing from his home or from another home towards his home where the suspect was breaking into the truck?)
One of my favorite movies!
It could have been attempted petty theft - ripping the radio out of the dashboard, or even taking a GPS. Still, I agree. Property crimes would be a whole lot less common if more thieves paid the appropriate price, as this Obama-voter did.
“Breaking into pickups is frowned upon in TX and in fact, is illegal.”
Is it a capital crime?
I think this guy may have a problem.
“......The guy shot the thief in the butt as he ran to his car with the TV set - with a broad-arrow!”........
Tried to pin his ass to the ground with an arrow?....... Interesting.
Value of the property?? I price shopped a 2016 Ram 2/3 ton diesel 4x4 one sunday morning last month. Sticker price was 70K and change.....that is a whole lot of reasons for me to shoot someone trying to take it.
“I seem to recall several different scenarios being presented, “..........
Time for a “refresher” course. You need to be up on all issues when you are carrying. The last thing you want is to make the wrong decision and then have charges against you.

First words out of their mouths "This isn't Texas".
Explained I could only use deadly force after retreating INSIDE my home as far as I could and then MAYBE it would be ok to shoot.
This guy has "hours of darkness" on his side, when you can use Deadly Force for criminal mischief on up the scale of offenses.
He was just scoping out what was going on.
It just went off honest accident.
Yep - funny that they have such loose standards for killing folks but still have a way to go as far as total constitutional carry. Don't know if it's still the same, but at one time, it was legal for a Texan to kill someone who he caught messing with his trot lines....
Not in Texas. The fact he was not arrested pretty much says it all!
I live in Texas and have a CCl I have no idea what you are talking about. Texas allows Concealed and open carry!!!
What the truck thief was doing with a rifle we’ll never know. Now will someone get that elephant out of my pajamas please.
Florida's castle doctrine precludes suit by the perp and his family.
TX is more civilized about these kinds of killings than the rest of the country.
I think the homeowner will be fine.
