Horsesh*t! Torture wouldn’t have been around for thousands of years if these morons were right. Torture works regardless of what “science” with liberal government grants says.>>> agreed it works as well as propaganda

Except when it does, and it’s effective. Then it works.

” December 2014, that the agency’s harsh methods failed to glean any intelligence not available through softer tactics....”

So, they admit torture “gleans” facts that also can be discovered via “softer” methods. . .meaning, if time is critical then torture can be a useful tool.

Torture would work on me, and I’m not a wimp.

The way the culture is going any conservative in favor of torture naive to say the least. We're the very first people who will be on the rack if Hillary wins, make no mistake. And she'll use the psychopathic reasoning of the neocon hacks to justify it. Remember, DHS already considers us radical extremist terror threats despite having subsequently withdrawn the report due to bad PR.

I also take a very dim view of people who search high and low for loopholes in the constitutional prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment. "Gitmo isn't the United States" is a lawyer's answer, maybe legally correct but a direct path to Hell.

There’s a slew of prisoners in China and North Korea who all confessed after having their fingers broken, etc. All guilty, I guess...at least they confessed.

Also, we know that witchcraft is real, since there are so many reported confessions of it.

I just got done reading a book about the civil war in Spain during the 1930s. Torture was used on Communist spies and nationalist rolled up their entire spying and guerrilla network that way. Torture works.

Like I said up-thread, a good interrogator never bothers to ask a question whose answer he cannot verify. The correct method is to ask for information, with the subject understanding that he will be fine as long as the information checks out.

So when catch the terrorist who has a dirty bomb set to blow in Manhattan in one hour, do we give him a nice banana split sundae or strap him into a chair with a new pair of pruning shears starting at his left pinkie finger, top joint till he talks?

In the bomb scenario, it's easy. We tell him he will be tortured until we find the bomb, and if the bomb goes off, he will be tortured for days until he dies.

He will tell ALL he knows.

A trained interrogator that has been subject to these methods knows they are effective.

In the seminal (not really) movie Serpent and the Rainbow, a guy is tortured by the Ton Ton Macoute and has a spike run through his scrotum.

That always stuck with me, and I have not set foot in Haiti to this day.
