Cruz Running for Re-election in 2018
Texas Tribune ^ | 5-11-16 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 05/11/2016 11:33:55 AM PDT by bigbob

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, plans to run for re-election in 2018.

Cruz, who ended his presidential campaign last week, said "yes" when asked Wednesday morning by a reporter in Washington, D.C., if he would seek a second term, according to CNN and The Hill. Cruz's office later confirmed the exchange.

The announcement adds some clarity to Cruz's political future following his decision to exit the presidential race on May 3. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.

Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Here’s one oldie who won’t be voting for the absent from duty senator. At this point the only thing I think he is capable of, is running toward the first alphabet camera to show his face and moving mouth to the world. I don’t trust him as far as I can throw a brick outhouse. AND to think I
voted for him to the sednate....and then he was the absent senator, from Texas, running for the presidency.

I’m not criticizing Cruz for not being conservative, I’m pointing out that the previous posting drew a perfect picture of McCain.

>>>In other words, he’s a young John McCain...

It’s hilarious to hear Cruz criticized by Trump people for not being conservative.

You don’t get it. He played the conservative and turned out to be a hypocrite. People who feel like they were fooled or used often use humor as a means to deal with it. Lighten Up!

I do not consider Cruz to be conservative, mostly because he put the CON in servative....thanks, you keep him!!!

What the hell kind of "reasoning" is that? It's just an empty slogan.

Do you have any facts at all?

Republicans need good senators and have suffered because those who were elected have enabled Obama to have eight years in office to reshape America into a socialist impoverished country. Ted Cruz and Marko Rubio have spent at least a full year on running their campaigns and undoubtedly a good part of their previous years in the senate preparing for this political Presidential campaign. Bob Dole resigned his senate office to run for president because he believed it unfair to neglect the job he was elected to do. Cruz and Rubio should now, at the very least, return to the full time work they were elected to do and for which they receive pay and benefits and retirement pay. Their recompense for govt employment is far and away beyond the paycheck most other Americans receive for their full time jobs. It seems that enough of our elected senators are spoiled rotten to the point of feeling free to neglect their duties to the citizens who voted for them. I will not vote for any candidate for senate without asking them if they are planning a run for another office.

And you don't explain it. In all of this bellyaching about Cruz, not one example of how he has been a "hypocrite" has been presented.

In other words, you sound like a bunch of leftists.

The Cruzers were much worse. I could not take their hatred of us and left. I decided after a few days to get back here. I was not going to let a bunch of negative people run me off. I have been here since 2001 and had never seen so much hatred. Vote Trump.

OMGosh, you just didn't go there? You're crazy in love with Cruz if you don't see how this primary played out.

You realize everything your chart showed about being conservative, Cruz threw all that away during this primary by getting in bed with the GOP establishment and globalists? You're crazy blind in love with the dude if can't see that.

f you hate conservatism, just say so.

Saying your a conservative doesn't make you one. TPA? H1B? Corker? BLM Supporter? Belgium Bombings Trump's fault? Your graphic (I assume from ConReview - Mark Levin's site) doesn't jibe with reality.

Why would he even say anything to hint at this? Trump will not be a one term President

He's not running for President in 2018...nobody is. This is about running for Senate.

It comes from his fundamental disrespect for the Constitution as evidenced by running for President while still a Canadian and then trying to convince people that one could be a natural born citizen of two countries at the same time.

Why? He is a solid conservative. Do you want to open the door for a GOPe candidate?

Ok, so you are not a conservative. The party is big enough for all flavors of GOP.

You think the anti Trump vitriol is worse because you didn't pay attention to the anti Cruz vitriol. Just look around and you will still see it even though the primary is over.

It looks really bad. And it's not going to help us defeat Hillary.

That looked to me like a deliberate hit to his wife. Whatever, there is something odd about this entire hugging session.

No chance, don’t waste your time or money. Spend it where it is useful on somebody else.
