Cruz: Those who bolstered Trump 'will bear that responsibility going forward'
The Hill ^ | ay 12, 2016, 09:45 pm | By Jesse Byrnes

Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."

Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.

"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.

"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."

Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.

"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."

Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.

"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.

He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."

Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.

"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.

Yeah, after 18 years on FR I AM concerned - concerned that people are more interested in shooting the soldier next to them than firing downrange at the enemy!

But it seems many here hate Ted Cruz more than Hillary, and would rather vent their hatred on Ted Cruz than try to unify the “Stop Hillary” vote. That is a shame.

Do you expect Cruz somehow to resurrect his failed candidacy and become the nominee? Otherwise what is your point?

Cruz will be lucky if they let him in the front door. He can forget getting to speak. What a joke!

Yet the Trump adherents are more interested in attacking Cruz than building support to stop Hillary.

Cruz is keeping this going by not endorsing Trump and making wiseass comments like Trump supporters "will bear that responsibility going forward." What's that if not a veiled attack? Cruz can move beyond this at any time by endorsing the presumptive nominee. Will he? That will determine his future status here.

No, you are trolling. Cruz on monday threatened to restart his campaign. You know that. Yet you continue with this nonsense that Cruz is being unfairly targeted. Fact is Cruz has brought all this new fire on his position with his hysterical tantrums. He’s stirring the pot. You’re stirring the pot. Trumpers can see what is going on here. Don’t play us for fools with your transparent concern trolling.

I do not hate Ted Cruz more than Hillary.

I do despise him though.

“Otherwise what is your point?”

People here are more interested in attacking someone who is out of the race than the person who might become the next President of the US. They act as if I’m the enemy because I refuse to denounce Ted Cruz and call him names.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to get people I know to support Trump against Hillary, but it is an uphill battle - with people who HAVE been reliable anti-democrat votes. Maybe that doesn’t bother y’all, but pissing on your allies is a good way to end up without allies at all.

I want to stop Hillary! Do you? If so, try aiming fire at Hillary instead of Limbaugh, Cruz or even Mr Rogers!

I remind you that Trump didn’t win more than 50% anywhere until the bandwagon effect began to take effect.

May I remind you that no one gives a cr@p, Cruz lost.

knock off crapping on others...Your guy won - but you HAVE NOT moved on. Why?

Give me one date – one date – since Indiana ... when Cruz was NOT in the news crapping on Trump.

We will all move on – gladly – when this a-hole gets his reptilian charlatan self out of the anti-Trump newsfeed.

Dearth...Now there is a perfectly great word that doesn't get used enough any longer!

Yes, I've noticed that there's a dearth of people using the word dearth...

‘The thing is that I don’t think he’s done making waves and I still expect some shenanigans with the convention. I wouldn’t put anything past him, given his belief that he was the “anointed” one.’

Agree with you a hundred percent. Cruz appears to despise Trump with a burning passion, and doing what he can to sabotage Trump at the convention fits Cruz’ MO to a T. This is one reason Cruz is so roundly disliked by those who know him well: he has a history of putting self-interest/self-promotion above all other considerations.

“Give me one date – one date – since Indiana ... when Cruz was NOT in the news crapping on Trump.”

Yesterday. He obviously doesn’t LIKE Trump, but he didn’t denounce him either.

Today. Haven’t heard anything negative about Trump from Cruz today.

“this a-hole gets his reptilian charlatan self”

You are busier hating Cruz than fighting Hillary. And your cult of personality, viewing everything thru the lens of “does he love Trump”, is alienating potential Trump voters. Maybe you don’t care, but I think this will be a hard-fought election, and pissing on your allies is bad business.

Hillary. Target Hillary.

‘Do the Trump worshipers want to win? Or do they merely want to promote their Messiah?’

What If all the Cruz supporter talk about worshipping a messianic candidate is pure projection? Trump supporters are far more likely to honestly note their candidate’s shortcomings than are Cruz supporters. And at least Trump supporters aren’t all in for a candidate who claims a divine imprimatur on himself and his presidential run.

They have been using some of these words instead.

lack, scarcity, shortage, shortfall, want, deficiency, insufficiency, inadequacy, paucity, sparseness, scantiness, rareness; absence.

What you are missing is that I saw through Cruz at that debate when he flat out lied about ‘natural born’ US citizenship. I have NO ‘compassion’ for any who willingly attempt to subvert our Constitution. The responsibility is upon you to do the ‘right’ thing. Trump at least loves this nation and her peoples. I cannot say that about Cruz.

Cruz’ lie about what originalists believe re NBC, coupled with his NH lie claiming, “Trump made himself rich by using eminent domain,” stand out as two of the most vile, sickening lies of the campaign. The fact that his supporters—at least some of whom seemed to be decent, honest people—gave him a complete pass on both is just a shame. Had his own supporters reined him in even a little, it would have done Cruz a world of good.

Many times over the course of the campaign I saw Trump’s most fervent supporters criticize him on Twitter, and ask him for a course correction. I even saw it happen on this site, where they were sure to have it thrown back in their faces by Cruz supporters. I never saw a similar reaction among Cruz supporters, where he was taken to task for some of his most egregious misdeeds. Maybe it happened, but if so I certainly never saw it.

He says he's going to address Texas Republicans? I wonder if they know about that.

Cruz heaped a load OF BS on trusting Texans:

<><> I didn't know I was a Canadian citizen when I ran for the Senate until the media exposed it.

<><> I told trusting Texas voters wifey and I were liquidating family assets so I could get into the Senate.

<><> I didn/t know I was supposed to tell the FEC I borrowed over a million from my Wall Street margin accounts to fund my campaign.

<><> I told Mark Levin the borrowed funds were used for campaign ads....but I didn/t report this as required.

<><> And so on and so forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

It's over......Cruz better get packing for Calgary.
