When CBS ordered six new shows last week, fans on Twitter pointed out the one thing they all had in common: The top-billed actor in each was white and male.
Soon observers began to accuse the broadcaster of not doing enough to cast women and actors of color at a time when the rest of the industry was making strides in that direction.
On Wednesday, CBS unveiled its fall schedule to reporters and network executives were asked about the networks male-centered lineup.
We are the network that has Madam Secretary and Two Broke Girls and Mom we have lots of female leads, we have a great balance, said CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller. Actually our new series are more diverse this year than last year. When Doubt premieres, Im happy to say its the first broadcast series to feature a transgender series regular played by a transgender actor. I think thats phenomenal. We are definitely moving in the right direction.
I see that CBS aired the last episode of The Good Wife. That show had a woman lead. So can we say CBS is bigoted since they canceled a major show with a female lead????
Should the networks always submit their schedules to Al Sharpton and the Human Rights Campaign and allow veto power over schedules??? What the heck???
You've still got a Black and White tv? It's time to upgrade! All my actors are in color.
You can count on EVERY show to have
1) token gay, if not the main character
2) anti-republican commentary
20 years ago I started keeping a scrapbook of all the pro Democrat -vs- Pro Republican comments on TV and I never heard one single pro republican comment, but a lot of negative ones.
The one that got me started was “fresh prince of Belair” when Carlton was breaking into a safe for some silly reason and Will Smith’s character asked him how he knew how to do that, and Carlton replied “The Young Republicans Committee had a seminar”
Oooooooohhhh that pissed me off...
I wish I had kept it up

DY-NO-MITE!
We pretty much only watch ID and LMN (murder mysteries, etc.). Then after my wife turns in I get to watch the science and history channels for a bit.
Pretty much everything else is garbage.
It’s not just the networks. “Shameless” is a successful cable series. I only recently found out that “Shameless” is based on a Brit series of the same name. After tracking down a means to watch some of the UK episodes, I saw what the American producers had done.
If you have seen it, you’ll remember ‘Liam, the black child in an all white family. I forget how the US version shoe-horned him in there, but the original series has him as a white infant. Oh, and the non-US Fiorina? She bangs anything that walks, unlike the stiff US version. Frank Gallagher isn’t the centerpiece of the UK show the way he is in the US, but he gets off some good lines. One of my favorites ... “They should reduce poverty by making drugs free.”
I am proud to say I have watched exactly none of those.
Jimmie Walker is one of the good guys, a very solid conservative.
“So just make more bad shows no one will watch. But this time cast people of color.”
Ding, ding, ding!!! Of course I, being the Comcast drone that I am, subsidize many of these trash shows and networks with my monthly subscription fees. I really would like to cut the cord but love the sports programming too much. I wish Comcast would see the light and offer more de-bundled packages. They’ll have to eventually but they won’t now because it’d be catastrophic to their top line revenue.
TV sucks so badly across so many stations that I wonder how they can stay in business.
