One day after lawmakers passed a bill that would make performing an abortion a felony, Gov. Mary Fallin decided to veto the measure....
On Friday, Gov. Mary Fallin vetoed the measure, saying the bill was vague and would not withstand a criminal constitutional legal challenge.
The bill is so ambiguous and so vague that doctors cannot be certain what medical circumstances would be considered necessary to preserve the life of the mother, Fallin said. The absence of any definition, analysis or medical standard renders this exception vague, indefinite and vulnerable to subjective interpretation and application.
While I consistently have and continue to support a re-examination of the United States Supreme Courts decision in Roe v. Wade, this legislation cannot accomplish that re-examination, Fallin wrote. In fact, the most direct path to a re-examination of the United States Supreme Courts ruling in Roe v. Wade is the appointment of a conservative, pro-life justice to the United States Supreme Court.
Pro-choice groups have said the bill is unconstitutional, but the author of the bill, Sen. Nathan Dahm, said he hoped it would challenge Roe v. Wade.

Someone wants to be VP, and will do anything to get it.
She got her orders, now we’ll see if she gets anything for it.
The lefty way is to probe, probe, probe... this could be a valuable page to take out of their book.
She might just not want to fight all the lefty opprobrium at this point.
GENERALLY, pro-life has wanted to be easy on the mothers as was historically the case before Roe v. Wade. However this is about the docs, so that worry isn’t even germane here.
Gov. Fallin joins the morally depraved side of other genocidal murderers committing crimes against humanity and giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
she already vetoed it
she already vetoed it? that was fast
Talking about next time
I’m glad you had the time to analyze the whole thing.
next time?
next time they present another bill?
Any analogous case
Abortions are not “performed,” they are “committed.”
You're welcome.
From what state is Gov. Fallin?
From what state is Gov. Fallin?
...I guess I understand her point...
A Bill like this has to have specific definitions and very specific criteria for enforcement. If it leaves alot to interpretation, it can be easily shot down on appeal as void for vagueness.
The OK legislature apparently wasn’t specific enough in its language. If they really want the law, they should try again. I think, he Governor would sign it if it were specific enough with its language.
So, rewrite the bill and pass it again.
I opposed the bill, but not for the same reasons as the governor.
It contained exceptions you could drive abortion on demand through.
Not just life of the mother, but the “mental health” of the mother. In other words, all the hit man would have to do is have the murderous mother sign a form that says that she might do herself harm, maybe, if she wasn’t allowed to have her precious child exterminated.
Fallin’s judicial supremacist views are fatal to any sort of attempt to stop abortion anyhow, by the way. They are a coup d’etat against republican constitutional self-government.
Great idea. And this time make sure it meets the Constitution's explicit equal protection requirements.
"No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law."
"No State shall deprive any person of life without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
Another GOP FAILURE... Flush them All, They Stand for Nothing!
The Enemy is within and until we deal with that Enemy we will Never be able to Deal with the Enemy’s outside the Nation.
