Love George Jones...thanks, BB. ((HUGS))
I was thinking about posting that one.
How about the territory band of Phil Baxter’s, whose orchestra toured around the hotels in the OK/TX region, who made this recording:
“Down Where the Blue Bonnets Grow” (1929)
Re: Wildflower by Skylark
Excellent! Beautiful song. But, IMO, that’s not the best or original version of it by Skylark. The one heard on the radio is better.
I think this is it:

Wildflower - Skylark
She’s faced the hardest times you could imagine
And many times her eyes fought back the tears
And when her youthful world was about to fall in
Each time her slender shoulders bore the weight of all her fears
And a sorrow no one hears still rings in midnight silence, in her ears
Let her cry, for she’s a lady
Let her dream, for she’s a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
She’s a free and gentle flower, growing wild
And if by chance I should hold her
Let me hold her for a time
But if allowed just one possession
I would pick her from the garden, to be mine
Be careful how you touch her, for she’ll awaken
And sleep’s the only freedom that she knows
And when you walk into her eyes, you won’t believe
The way she’s always paying for a debt she never owes
And a silent wind still blows that only she can hear and so she goes
Haven't heard that one, but the title is appropriate for a band performing in Texas.
Hope you get some decent rain. we had a bit of a shower at 8-ish pm, but didn’t do much in the way of relieving us of having to water. Cha-ching! sigh
Thanks. We sure do need it! I’ll probably water flowers again tonight because the wind today leeched it dry again after last night’s watering.
They’re under flash flood warnings tonight north and west of us and we’re parched. Crazy weather this Spring.
Hi Ladies!! *HUGS*
You’re back!! WOOHOO!!
How ya doin’? *HUGZ*
Sort of like us. South and East Texas have floods and all sorts of weather. We’re dry as a bone. Well...not as dry as it was 2 years ago when we got less than an inch in a whole year and huge water restrictions, but we were hoping not to have to water so much.
As you go to your home by the ocean
May you never forget those sweet hours
That we spent in the Red River Valley
And the love we exchanged mid the flowers
The Statlers....my favorite group!!! Thanks!!!!
