Battle Over LGBT Amendment Threatens to Stall Entire Appropriations Process
The Daily Signal ^ | 5/26/16 | Philip Wegmann

An LGBT measure derailed a $37.5 billion House energy and water spending bill and now threatens to bring the entire appropriations process to a grinding halt in the House.

The amendment from Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y., would codify a 2014 executive order prohibiting federal contractors from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Opponents characterize the Maloney amendment as a violation of conscience rights. They fear that the failed amendment could require federal contractors to provide special status to members of the LGBT community or lose their business with the federal government.

With the support of 43 Republicans, the amendment passed late Wednesday night, 223-195. But Thursday morning, the underlying spending bill was defeated 112-305.

Good, don’t fund anything and shut down the Govt for less than 1% of the population. Yeah, that makes sense.

another federal government shutdown, this time over trannies (body parts, not automotive parts).

so returning to an age old question, is obama a pitcher or a catcher?

...discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

I don't think any thinking people should allow themselves to get sucked into using wording such as this..... to use such wording is to agree that these are real entities and conditions and therefore by default, normal. They are not... they are phony and contrived conditions that are abnormal and unnatural. In future, whenever I hear this language, I'm going to make a point to first correct the person saying it by saying "oh you mean sexual perversion and mental gender instability"... or something like that.

And people wonder why employers are taking the jobs to other counties.

It's the onerous taxes, red tape, and government BS that is chasing the jobs away. Not the "evil" corporations.

Why Did Speaker Ryan ALLOW THIS??
**************************************

Because he is a quisling.

Pelosi never allowed the Republicans, but Ryan has no backbone.

Cantorize Ryan before he can do any more damage.

The entire thing is insane on the face of it. Dozens of “genders” and companies get fined in star chambers if they don’t accommodate all of it? Madness! If you ever had any doubt that the Left is insane this should end all doubts.

Honestly I don’t care what bathroom someone goes into. The LGBT community will get the tolerance that they give. What I object to is the federal government powergrab of unenumerated authority.

These are decisions that need to be made by the local communities rather than enforced from a tyrannical powerhungry federal OR STATE beaurocracy.

The Second Amendment is there to protect against that kind of federal government overreach when the ballot box fails to deliver the message.

They’re afraid of being tagged anti-freak bigots.

If you don’t agree with Left’s radical social agenda, you’re a bigot.

43 Republicans are not a badge of courage in failing to resist it.

This is in part due to Ryan’s push to return “regular order” to the appropriations process and reassert the congressional prerogative over federal spending. “Regular order” refers to a bottom-up, committee-driven legislative process that gives more power to individual members and less to party leaders. The control by the party leaders was one of the complaints against Boehner.

The problem with regular order is that it generally doesn’t work as well in practice as it sounds in theory. For one, it’s messy. Ryan has promised to bring spending bills to the floor under what’s known as an “open rule,” which really means almost no rules at all. Members can demand votes on any amendment that relates to how the department in question spends money. And in an election year (or really any year), the minority party will always try to use this freedom to advance their causes and create political headaches for the majority. .

Why does quisling Ryan pass the entire DEMOCRAT budget with a Republican-controlled Congress?
