BTW, the main reason I drive the truck vs the Escape (besides the Escape being my wife’s main transportation). Deer.

I’ve hit 3 with the truck in a year, and although she’s a bit bruised still, I was able to drive it and then patch it up for not much cash.

One hit to the Escape and I’d have more damage than the whole Sierra is worth.

“I an 20 miles form town and can hardly walk anymore. If I could walk I could hike 19 miles to catch the bus I pay for.”

I also am 20 miles from town and about 22 from the nearest bus stop. (Incidentally, I have witnessed more than one altercation at this bus stop and I wouldn’t ride with the people who got on there because it would be dangerous.) But, and here’s the news. The liberals do not want you living by yourself 20 miles from a bus stop. They want everybody (except themselves) to live in a special “mixed purpose” community composed of shopping, houses close together, work opportunities and a transportation hub.

Below is a layout and photos of a mixed community. The photos give the impression of lots of room, but the homes are on top of one another. If somebody has loud music, you had better like it, because playing loud music is now officially a first amendment right.

Meanwhile, these same people live in exclusive gated subdivisions that do not have affordable housing. (The affordable housing was built outside the gate with its own pool and community center, but the same subdivision name. And, yes, the crime rate there is about what you’d expect in subsidized housing.)

"The only need for a car is to drive to work -- "

Wow, 20th Century concepts. Driving to somewhere and working.

One of the stated goals of UN agenda 21 is to reduce the world population by 85%.

but every once in awhile after a storm, it’s necessary to cut/drag a tree off the road to get to work. You’re not going to do that with a Smart car.

I have the battery chain saw for that. 18 inch blade and plenty of juice to cut sections that I can drag off by hand.

They really liked putting MTBE in fuel until someone said it killed fish and trees.

If it is so important, then the leaders should be first in line to save us all.

Us poor 15% at the bottom is all that will be left (and I don’t mean “Left” as in “Leftist”)

I ditched my car too after the repairs of damage caused by ethanol gas became too expensive. Anyway, I live in a stack and pack hi-rise with my other Comrads. I have no need to travel and see the countryside. All my needs are met in my Sustainable Development, walkable community. There is even a Walmart just steps away that takes my food ration coupons.

Once a month I treat myself to 12 ounces of fish. I think it all comes from our Chinese or Vietnamese Comrads now.

My Political Officer has told me that because of my stellar attendance at our Behaviour Modification sessions I stand a good chance of being issued a voucher to travel outside our Urban Growth Boundary this fall. If I am lucky I will be allowed to travel by High Speed Rail to Region 13 and attend this years Hunger Games. (sarc)
