I think we crossed the line that began the accelerating momentum downhill toward the totalitarian abyss when the Seventeenth Amendment was ratified. The slope steepened suddenly with the FDR panoply of actions and again War on Poverty. The slop eased during the Reagan Presidency and we hit loose gravel sometime in Bush IIs term. We went over the edge in 2008 and the parachute failed to open in 2008. The emergency chute failed in 2012. Now we wait for the Hand of God.
