Perhaps Rush is just taking a page from Obama and justifying the shooting before the facts are in. Another opportunity for Rushbo to be the unqualified animal psychologist. He has absolutely no idea about the history of the gorilla or about it’s previous behavior toward people or young gorillas. Both things are relevant and should have been well known to the zoo staff, yet we aren’t hearing about that from the zoo. It’s a tragedy. I’m not happy with the outcome, but I’m withholding judgement until the facts are complete. I do hope the liberals fry everyone until the facts are all transparent.

You can see it in the video links above, when it shows folks looking down on gorilla from above.
Doesn’t look like much, but I’m still surprised a toddler could get over it.
Maybe a undercover PETA protester put him on top of it. Sometimes they go to zoos to covertly videotape in the hopes of catching “abuse”.
If no one saw the kid climbing over, no one would’ve seen him being placed on top. Crime of opportunity?

You are correct. Pdrent’s responsibility. I was there recently. I leaned on that fence. You can’t lean on a 3 foot fence comfortably. I’m thinking it was taller than 3 feet. In 18 years not a single incident, but this genius child figures it out instantly under the watchful eyes of its mother. /sarc

I still can’t find a clear shot of the fence, where you can see how wide he openings in it are, etc. A lot of the reporting describes the kid as having gone through the fence, and not over it.

Has Obama come out and accused the zoo of acting stupidly?
The mother has 4 kids so conceivably one of the other kids distracted her at the moment the 4-year-old got into the enclosure, but according to someone on another thread she was texting. So we can't criticize her without offending all the people who text while driving or while attending class.

“I do think animals should have some basic rights.”
Perhaps they should.
But they don’t, and it is the worst sort of lunacy to think they do.

“According to the Bible, animals do have rights.”
Road apples.
“We are not to be cruel to animals.”
That’s our responsibility, not their right.

No fence. Just concrete shaped and painted to look like square boulders, about 3 ft high.

The worst part is that they have since discovered that the DDT had noting to do with eagle problems.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. The irony is that we ‘’humans’’ are animals. We're primates. There's humans, gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, and Gibbon monkeys(monkeys with tails.)

The “damn Gorilla” was protecting the child, until the screaming got it rattled.

An oldie but goody Snerdley dressed as Koko the gorilla. The fun starts around 2 minute into the tape.

If it were a naked, drunk jumping in to commune with the gorilla, and they shot it, I would be outraged. But you don’t take a chance with a small child.
The zoo team made the right call..
To: Yaelle
Animals will fear and dread us (Bereishis 9). Animals do not have rights. Emotional discomfort in animals is part of the plan. Animal emotions are not like ours. We may kill and use animals.
It's true that we should not eat an animal's flesh while the animal is alive. We should not do as idolatrous nations have done.
Go agricultural. Grow something. Learn about beasts and the differences between their spirits and ours. Learn. Before long, many more of us will work in agriculture again anyway, extra hardships and all (defaults, open source economy, distributed economy, end of days).
A kosher meat plant was shut down, and a good Rabbi was falsely libeled and institutionalized. Those were wrongdoings.
Remember that the origin of my soul is unknown by man--no national exceptions. I say that, because I care about you and respect you.
If an adult human being is in danger of being mauled by a gorilla, the gorilla should be stopped as efficiently as possible.
I also quote the following, because I care about you and respect you. Idolatrous nations tended toward trying to erroneously envision human characteristics in animals, and eventually, forms of animal worship and cruelties with animals against humans.
Adolf Hitler and vegetarianismAnalysisWikipedia
However, Alexander Cockburn writes:...Nazi leaders were noted for love of their pets and for certain animals, notably apex predators like the wolf and the lion. Hitler, a vegetarian and hater of hunting, adored dogs...Goebbels said, famously, The only real friend one has in the end is the dog...One, as just noted, many Nazi leaders harboured affection towards animals but antipathy to humans. Hitler was given films by a maharaja which displayed animals killing people. The Führer watched with equanimity. Another film showed humans killing animals. Hitler covered his eyes and begged to be told when the slaughter was over.[30]
