Success of Jerry Brown, and California, Offers Lesson to National Democrats

SACRAMENTO — When Bernie Sanders held a rally at an outdoor stadium here the other night, more than 15,000 people turned out in a display of cheering, chanting, singing and cartwheels.

Gov. Jerry Brown, the state’s most prominent Democrat, was not there, but he might as well have been. Mr. Sanders’s speech was replete with the kind of to-the-barricades flourishes that have long been part of Mr. Brown’s campaign language.

“The political establishment is getting nervous,” Mr. Sanders said. “The corporate establishment is getting nervous. And they should be nervous. Because real change is coming.”

As the Democratic presidential primary nears in California, it is easy to find in Mr. Sanders the kind of populist appeal that has long animated Mr. Brown, who ran for president in 1992 on a “We the People” pledge to accept no contribution over $100. But it is just as easy to find in Hillary Clinton, Mr. Sanders’s opponent, the kind of political moderation and fiscal restraint that has come to define Mr. Brown’s tenure as governor.

No mention of California’s budget crisis and deficits under the Democrats.

No mention of Reagans’s amnesty. It was the President’s worst mistake by his own admission.

obviously in politics, especially in Gerry Brown's case, appearance is everything and truth is nothing. Brown's organized crime connections supports his appearance of success while the organized criminals make off with millions in tax payer dollars. After all, Gerry Brown does support the queen of crime for the WH. The fact that Kalifornicate is in deep financial do-do is a direct result of the criminal libturds who run the state.

The only “success” I’ve seen in California for quite some time was the success of some total loonies being able to “marry” the ocean....

There is no success in my state. None. Unless you count Democrat electoral success...but that equals failure.

Despite the bad economy, high taxes and rapidly diminishing jobs, Jerry Brown is a very popular governor (last field poll had him at 70% approval.) Despite rampant and obvious corruption, Kamila Harris is a very popular Attorney General and will be promoted to the US Senate in November.

Ask the people in California about the sorry state of jobs here, and they will tell you it’s Texas’s fault for stealing our jobs.

California is Reagan country no more. Trump is much hated here too.

What success?

Businesses continue to flee the overtaxed, over regulated climate. The state is choked with illegals. There’s no water, no electricity, no hope.

California is basically Venezuela with a Federal bailout.

Bad schools, bad roads, bad taxes, bad high-speed rail, bad water to agriculture, bad business climate, bad.... Yeah, real successful. What God put here is still marvelous. What Democrats have done is crumbling.

California’s new “non-partisan” primary system is looking like no Republican will be on the ballot for the U.S. Senate in the Fall; two Democrats only in the state that elected Governor Ronald Reagan, twice.

Left 30 years ago and can’t stand to even visit. It’s almost impossible to believe that Kali was once ranked among the top nations for its economy. Now, it’s just Detroit writ large.
