A 24-year-old middle school teacher accused of having a months-long affair with a 13-year-old student — who got her pregnant — turned herself in Wednesday afternoon.

Alexandria Vera was booked on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child and released on $100,000 bail — a day after Houston police issued a warrant for the raven-haired English teacher’s arrest.

She met — and fell in love with — the boy last summer at Stovall Middle School in Houston, according to court documents obtained by ABC

I wouldn’t want my daughter to go to school with such a boy. He has robbed all of his classmates of their innocence. They are all living in an adult-themed world now, whether they are ready for it or not.

Actually I think boys and girls are quite different, but that doesn’t make it ok for her to bang a 13 year old boy. She was in a position of authority, a mother of a 4 year old and 11 years older than him. He may have wanted it to happen, but at such a young age he was clearly unaware and unprepared for the severe consequences - pregnancy, abortion, etc. It is entirely messed up that an adult would put a kid in that predicament.

Well I wasn’t defending or approving of her conduct which is wildly age inappropriate. Maybe not for Mexico and other third world garden spots, but it is for America. The posters I find crackpots, and there are several, are the ones who refer to this as rape and equate it with male teachers and teenaged girls. Not that I have any illusions about the alleged innocence of a whole lot of teenage girls.

But having once been a teenage boy I’m well aware of how a teenaged boy would regard a situation like this and it’s “damage” to his psyche. The little monster would think he hit the jackpot at Las Vegas.

No I would not feel the same,

Have you had sex with man to verify this? It is the same in the fact that it's predatory.

However, my point remains that a 13-year-old boy having sex with a very attractive young woman is going to experience little or no “trauma”. He is most probably having the time of his life and will look back on it in misty-eyed old age with very fond memories indeed.

Pure speculation with no base on facts. Each child experiences something different and all will have issues that derive from being targeted for sex.

That would likely not be the case with a 13-year-old girl or boy who is having sex with a much older man.

Pure speculation. You have no idea what the child is experiencing and it wouldn't matter. It is still rape.

Psychological effects of rape, both short and long-term psychological effects can include....

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) – feelings of severe anxiety and stress

Depression

Flashbacks – memories of rape as if it is taking place again

Borderline personality disorder

Sleep disorders

Eating disorders

Dissociative identity disorder

Guilt

Distrust of others – uneasy in everyday social situations

Anger

Feelings of personal powerlessness – victims feel the rapist robbed them of control over their bodies

.

.This is from an article that addresses the issue. It's not harmless you would believe. Boys who are raped go on to have a warped sense of sexual identity that is also wrapped in guilt.

Abusers use their age or authority to satisfy their own needs without regard to those of their victims. Seemingly unbreakable bonds are broken when treachery is introduced into these relationships. Consequently, many sexually abused boys grow up distrustful, considering people dishonest, malevolent, and undependable. They often become frightened of emotional connection and isolate themselves. This may alternate with merging with loved ones so they hardly know where they end and others begin.

Confusing affection with abuse, desire with tenderness, sexually abused boys often become men who have difficulty distinguishing among sex, love, nurturance, affection, and abuse. They may experience friendly interpersonal approaches as seductive and manipulative. On the other hand, they may not notice when exploitative demands are made on them - they've learned to see these as normal and acceptable.-----

These aftereffects are ugly. They're not only painful for victims but also costly to our society. Boys who grow up without coming to terms with their childhood abuse often struggle as men with addictions, anxiety, depression, and thoughts of suicide as well as the inability to develop or maintain relationships.

“That poor kid had his youth stolen, and it cannot be returned.”

He’s going to have a leg up (not to mention a leg over) on his peers.

“So how young is this teacher allowed to go with boys, in your opinion?”

I thought I made that perfectly obvious in my two points, perhaps your reading comprehension isn’t very good.

Let me quote what I unequivocally wrote about how far the teacher should be “allowed” to go.

“the law is blind and the woman is punished the same way as a man is and that is rightly so”

“Likewise if the law says an attractive young woman who has sex with a compliant teenage boy is “raping” that boy...I will abide by the law”

“The law is the law and I respect that, and the woman must be punished, I do not deny that,”

I made it explicitly clear that the woman was a criminal and should be punished, in no way did I imply she should be “allowed” to do what she did.

I merely believe that other posters were losing the run of themselves be saying the boy would be “traumatised” by having his “youth stolen”. It is my opinion nothing more, nothing less, I made no appeal to change any law.

Good grief. If you read my post you’d see I didn’t ask about the law. I asked about your OPINION and referred to the trauma issue you had written about.
