Former President Bill Clinton said Tuesday that more people would have died at the terrorist attack at a nightclub in Orlando over the weekend if club-goers had been armed and shot back at the lone gunman.
Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg Live at the Clinton Global Initiative, the former president was asked to respond to Donald Trump
’s claim that there would have been fewer deaths if those at the nightclub had been carrying firearms.
“Did you see how dark it was?” Clinton said. “It’s likely that more people would have been killed.”
A gunman of Afghan descent who claims to have been inspired by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria killed 49 people and wounded dozens more in an attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Omar Mateen, who was killed after an hours-long stand-off with police, was armed with a handgun and an AR-15 rifle affixed with high-capacity magazines that permit the rapid firing of ammunition.
It was the worst mass shooting in U.S. history and worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.
The tragedy has reignited debate over the nation’s gun, immigration and intelligence gathering laws, as well as political correctness and the nature of Islam.
Clinton on Tuesday pushed for a ban on “assault weapons,” arguing that gun deaths dropped sharply after he signed a ban as president in the 1994. The act expired in 2004.
“It worked pretty well,” Clinton said of the ban.. “Then when it was allowed to expire. For a while we didn’t seem to have uptick in crime, but look at what happened with big weapons at Sandy Hook and Aurora, Colorado and most recently in Orlando and San Bernardino, California.”
“It’s clear that if you’re firing a lot of ammunition in a short amount of time with a weapon designed to kill, more people will die than if you’re stuck with a pistol,” Clinton continued. “If [the Orlando shooter] just had a pistol, nobody believes he could have killed 49 people.”
Hey! It works with the timid, the weak-minded, and the women who are so afraid of a gun that they would not pick one up off of the table. Same thing applies to roaches and mice.

Mateen would have been shot PDQ and maybe, MAYBE, there would have been a few collateral injuries and casualties (as in those on the other side of Mateen) but not this big slaughter.
Another person at the club was, in fact, armed and returned fire, forcing the moho into the bathroom and likely saving some, perhaps many, lives.
There was an armed person in the club that he didn’t know about.

While it is possible, I suppose, that one or two celebrants at the night club might have been injured or possibly killed from a stray bullet from the multiple guns pointed at the shooter immediately after he fired the first shot, I cannot fathom that 50 people would have been killed, and 50 more injured. This is nonsense!
Adjust your fire, head shot. If it's wired with a dead man trigger it goes off. But you can be assured a muzzie with a bomb is going to set it off anyway.

Then why send the police in there Slick? If it is dark and you can’t see what the shoot they might accidentally shot an innocent person. Can police see in the dark? Is is okay if the police accidentally shot an innocent person trying to stop a maniac but the guy who might be armed standing by the manic needs to stand down?

Being insulting to someone who is trying to analyze this is childish on your part.
I am trying to figure out how one guy shoots over a hundred people in a packed building with a rifle. Putting a rifle up to your shoulder is hard to do in a packed place. The rifle is sticking out and is easier to grab than a pistol.
Perhaps the victims saw the bomb trigger and were hesitant to try and knock down the rifle for fear that he would set off the bomb.
Common courtesy not your strong suit?
