Rubio says he will seek Senate re-election, reversing course
Fox News ^ | June 22,2016

Former Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio reversed course Wednesday and said he will seek re-election to the Senate, telling Fox News: “I changed my mind.”

The decision, widely expected among his Florida Republican colleagues, follows repeated claims during the GOP presidential primary race that he would not run again for Senate.

Rubio for months had spoken about his frustrations with the Senate, in explaining his original decision to run for the presidency only – and defending himself against criticism for missed votes.

But he told Fox News’ Chris Wallace on Wednesday while he’s “frustrated” with the Senate, it is “also a place where you can serve your constituents” and “hopefully be able to still move on some major issues.”

Further, he said the “deepest reason” he’s running is, “I think no matter who wins this presidential election, the Senate’s role of being able to act as a check and balance on bad ideas from the president I think [is] going to matter more in 2017 than they perhaps ever have in our history.”

“It’s one less seat to worry about. The Ted Cruz types can keep him in line. We’re talking 6 years. You folks are losing it.”

I agree with you. The folks in Florida need to think about this good and hard.

I don’t think Marco can win the Senate Primary.

In the 2016 Presidential Primary, 73% of Florida Republicans voted against him!

I know a lot of Florida FREEPers are against him.

I am in the minority. :) I hope he does well and becomes a better Senator because of his experiences over the past six years.

While i might disagree with your sentiments, I am glad to hold a seat when Trump wins.

Even with the fact that republicans have been rather useless.

They held the line on gun control yesterday, right?

I despise Amnesty Boy, but I’d tolerate this. He’s an opportunist and a follower. So long as we have Trump in the White House and republican control of the Senate, Rubio is harmless.

Still the NeverTrumper. I sent him money a few years ago because I believed he was a honest man. Now I think he is a fool.

Murphy will win this election and it won’t be that close. Murphy was a Republican until 2008 and is just “moderate” enough to pull Republican and Independent votes from Rubio. Of course it’s all a sham since Murphy will vote for Harry Reid as Majority Leader, but Rubio will lose handily. If Rubio ekes out a win it is because Trump has coattails.

I’m wondering how many people in Florida are going to vote for him? They pretty much said while he was a candidate they wouldn’t vote for him and glad he is almost out of the Senate...

Wondered who paid him off? Romney???

You have got to be kidding. Where have you been the past 10 years. Anti-American, amnesty loving, RINO republicans are just as bad as democrats. They vote together. They support one another. Don’t give _itch McConnell any ammunition. There are so many of these traitors in the Senate, they might actually be able to override vetoes. Working with Paul Ryno in the House, they will create bills that intentionally bury garbage in thousands of words. There is nothing transparent about these people. You really think it’s all right to keep them in office?

Rubio is the only Republican who beats the Democrat in this race. The others lose by double digits according to the polls. So yes, I will vote for him.

Rubio also has the potential to increase Trump’s tally because he will increase GOP turnout. And that is one of the reasons that Trump urged him to reconsider his decision not to run.

Better Rubio should lose in the primary, but he’s less harmful than a true democrat.

Rubio has no beliefs at all and will follow Trump so long as Trump is popular - and then admittedly betray America if Trump loses popularity. It’s not much, but it’s better than an honest democrat who really believes in the position that Rubio takes out of convenience when those positions poll well.

Rubio has no beliefs accept amnesty. No matter what he says he’s a traitorous liar. He fully supports the invasion of the country and the usurpation of its laws. Never forget that. He doesn’t really care how popular Trump is. If he can be used to sneak amnesty in, he will do whatever it takes.

Jolly is running for Congress.

I thought Jolly was in the primary for Senate.

As for Marco, I'll take a pass if he hasn't changed his tune.

Rubio better realize today.....that he can never carry Florida without Trump!!! If Rubio has one iota of a functioning political brain operating, he better make it as clear as a bell, that he supports Donald J. Trump...100%, and demomstarts it, by turning all his delegates over to DJT, today!!!
