Our family is very outdoors types and the mindset is “We are just camping”.
Of course, I’d rather camp in McCall, ID where it’s fairly cold 8 months a year and I love that weather, while simpletons would move on to warmer climes.
The temperature at this location on the Rockies was at least as low as minus-51 (Fahrenheit) one night last winter, and winter winds gust at over 100 miles per hour and spray ice into dunes several times each winter.
But that’s not the main reason I’d rather be in the Midwest. There are other, more important reasons.
Warmer climates are also more conducive for transmitting viruses and other diseases.
I’m OK in the north, but I do want freedom. If I have to live someplace hot and be free, I’d make the sacrifice.
