Johnny Manziel's father, who predicted earlier this year that his son wouldn't live to see his 24th birthday if he didn't get help, says the troubled quarterback is "a druggie" and that he's done talking about him.
"If I have to bury him, I'll bury him. That's the fact," Paul Manziel told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Friday in a phone interview. "So if not, if he calls me and needs help, I'll go get him. Until then, he's on his own. I've done everything I can do. There is nothing [else] I can do as a father. Nothing. ... It is, what it is. He's a druggie and everybody needs to accept it."
"He has more money than me, so he can outrun me," Paul Manziel said.
"I mean, I hate to say it, but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him."
Earlier Friday, a lawyer for Johnny Manziel expressed doubts that he can stay clean.
Defense attorney Bob Hinton, who's handling Manziel's domestic violence case, revealed that Manziel may have spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia store just 15 hours after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash last week.

Drugs. Some folks just can’t enjoy life without them.
Another wasted life. Pity.
That is so heart-breaking. Having a loved one get addicted to drugs or alcohol is pure torment and just kills the parents, siblings and children affected by it. I feel so sorry for Mr. Manziel. Thank God he has done all he can possibly do and has now accepted it.
And they really can’t enjoy life with them. That’s the baffling part.
I’ve read that Johnny’s dad was the ‘friend/buddy’ type of parent, during Johnny’s high school days. Allowed drinking/partying, etc. Promoted the ‘live large’ lifestyle.
I wonder how much this contributed to the problem at hand.
Sad. Hope the guy can somehow get clean. Sounds like maybe a crack habit?
Manziel will never play another down in the NFL. It’s just a question of how long he has left until his money runs out, then he joins Marinovich, Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, and all of the others in the Hall of Shame.
Too many kids have been ruined by parents who see their kids as the ticket to fortune and fame.

And most people don't enjoy life with them.
No idea...perhaps. Some parents think saying YES to everything is somehow better than having to say NO to things.
I’ve known parents who are the ‘give ‘em everything they want/let’s be party buds/no boundaries’ types. Overall, it usually doesn’t work out best, for the kid.
It contributed plenty. I know people well who know this family and grew up with Manziel. Hind sight is 20/20, but the parents created this little monster. They never set any boundaries, rules or limitations - and let him run the show.
This carried on when he went to A&M. Contrary to calls the coaches sent in, he would defy them and run different plays. But since he was successful because of his exceptional athleticism, they decided to let him basically run the offense. It worked and gave Manziel an even more exhilarating feeling of untouchable euphoria.
Johnny got used to getting high on being a rebel and increased using drugs & alcohol. Sadly, he may not hit rock bottom and seek help before he may permanently hurt others and himself.
Drugs are not a primary problem in nearly every case.
Lives of selfishness are a primary problem. These are recipes for ennui, which then tempt to alleviation by various immoral means.
The people who blame drugs are like skin cancer doctors that are blaming Band-Aids.
Quite possibly even worse — pumped him full of the demonic in the first place, pursuing their own selfish ends.

Drug dealers don’t generally force people to do drugs, and drugs do not act on their own and force their way into someone’s body.
Instead, it is the drug user who permits himself to use drugs and allows themselves to become addicted.
Essentially, it’s economics.
Without that demand, their would be no market, and without demand there would be no consumer.
I’ve heard similar, regarding the parents. Very sad.
I pray he doesn’t hurt anyone else in his downward spiral, as well. And, that he can overcome this.
This is how people like Justin Bieber get started. Some peak early in life, then pitch downward, as a way of trying to become independent.
And is it possible that this sad lad might be a mirror, in some degree, unto us? A “but for the grace of God there go I” case?
If the bible is not lying, then all humanity has pursued a rebel course. Some people thereafter get straightened up quicker, some slower, some never before they die and then comes the judgment.
