Washington (CNN) — Donald Trump will give an economic policy speech in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, his campaign announced Monday.

Trump's address -- titled "Declaring American Economic Independence" -- in Monessen will be his first appearance on the campaign trail since his trip to Scotland, where he promoted his remodeled golf course.

Monessen is a western Pennsylvania town located south of Pittsburgh and the venue is an industrial plant. A theme of Trump's campaign has been re-energizing American manufacturing, as well as fighting the side effects of globalization.

Eric Trump, his son, teased Monday that his father will be making an announcement this week but didn't specify that it would come in Tuesday's speech.

For the edification of our national Freepers; Monesson is an old steel mill town on the Monogahela River 20 miles or so south of Pittsburgh.

It gives blight a bad name.

I worked at the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel mill that used to be there as a teen (early 70s). It was a rat hole then.

The mill's been gone for decades and there ain't nothing, nothing there.

Trump showing up at Monesson is absolutely amazing.

Absolutely AMAZING.

He better be ready to pull a rabbit out of his hat — so to speak, because the world markets are crashing and bringing ours now with them. Merek looks like she’s sucking on a nasty sour lemon — she’s destroyed Germany.
Used to be that a country would fight out an invasion before it happened, nowadays we’re doing the exact opposite. Face it guys we’re invaded already and these fools rolled out the redcarpet for them. According to string theory physics, there’s 11 parallel universes — well this one sure as heck must be the freaking upside down complete opposite of how things are supposed to be one.

Is this a large venue for the speech like for a rally or its just big enough for a news event.\?

This will be a great opportunity for Trump. We know in advance that the press will trash the speech, but the people will hear much of it and that’s what really matters.

Monessen is just across the river from it’s “twin city” Charleroi, another rat hole.

We went to a County tax sale last year in which the man running the sale joked about the long list of Charleroi properties up for delinquent taxes. He offered to sell the entire town for $10K.

The article says the venue is an "industrial plant".

If it's a defunct, decrepit building, it will offer one heck of a counter-point: this is what past trade policies have wrought. Or, perhaps it's one that has survived and perhaps thrived. The, it could be an example of what Trump promises.

Personally, I think Trump needs to build on his trade positions with how the cost of regulations have increased the cost of employees, causing a lot of the off-shoring. Obamacare is an object example of that, but he has to make it simple -- without scaring people into thinking they will end up with no health insurance.

I also think he should confront the minimum wage debate, and say: raising the minimum wage will simply shut out a lot of young, low-skilled workers from entering the market and getting the experience they need. But, he has to counter that with the expectation that the demand for skilled employees will raise wages for experienced people that are currently working for minimum wage.

I don't know how you make these points for people that can't grasp the law of supply and demand. They don't teach this in school, and economic illiteracy is just one of the reasons it's an uphill battle to reach people that reflexively vote Democrat.

As long as Trump gets the electoral votes.

Trump visiting PA, OH and ME over next two days. All states narrowly won by the Democrats in 2012 and very winnable by the GOP this year. Well maybe Maine is more of a challenge. But definitely OH and PA are in play.

They would earn “naming rights” to the bridge connecting Charleroi and Monessen annually based on who won the high school football game between them.

Maine awards its Electoral Votes in 2 Congressional Districts (Nebraska, I believe uses a similar system)
Saw a poll today where Trump is ahead in one CD by 1 pt while HRC is ahead by 15 pts in the other.
If Trump won this one EV, plus won New Hampshire and perhaps Connecticut, it would be YUGE!! I even think New Jersey is within the realm of possibility.
Capturing all these eastern states could propel Trump to a Landslide.

Just down the river from me. Was a booming, vibrant town up until the mills closed. Now it’s a Section 8 ghetto filled with welfare trash. Like Charleroi, Donora and all those Mon Valley towns. Sad.

I hope Trump hammers your point throughout the rest of the campaign, but boils it down real simple that it can be repeated by anyone, anywhere and understood by most everyone.

Whatever you regulate more, you get less of it.

Whatever you tax more, you get less of it.

What do democrats excel at? Taxing and regulating every element of the economy at every level.

My understanding from the radio this morning is that the rally, by invitation only, will be held at a plant that recycles aluminum and other metals.

Essentially a scrap yard, all that's left of the once mighty mill that occupied the site along the river.
