Red Cross pool safety poster called racist

A poster about pool safety that was up outside a Colorado swimming pool is being called racist.

A man shared a photo he apparently took of the poster at the Salida community pool. On Twitter, John Sawyer asked the American Red Cross about the "super racist" post

"Hey Red Cross. Send a new pool poster to @SalidaRec bc the current one they have with your name on it is super racist."

The Red Cross responded to Sawyer via Twitter saying "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’re removing this from our site immediately & are creating new materials."

The poster shows four arrows pointing at black children who are "not cool" for not following the rules while the majority of the white children depicted in the poster appear to be in compliance.

The organization that helps people in distress around the world issued an apology reported by a local TV station.

"We deeply apologize for any misunderstanding, as it was absolutely not our intent to offend anyone," said the ARC.

Not everyone reacting on social media finds the poster offensive.

One Twitter user said: "@datnofact "Honestly, I'm baffled. Are people seeing racism where none at all exists?"

Here's the "offensive" poster

In the upper right of the poster, an "uncool" White boy is shown wearing dark glasses carrying a soda bottle. Does this mean all White boys wear dark glasses and carry soda bottles? WHAAAAA!! I'M OFFENDED!!! Where's my safe zone?!? Seriously, as a Red Cross volunteer I'm disappointed to say the least that they would capitulate to this idiotic level of PC. The Red Cross does offer to refer people to psychological services, the hypersensitive crybaby who got so bent out of shape about this needs to take advantage of those services.

There are 5 not cool - which feature 2 whites/3 blacks
1 of the blacks apparently dove from the edge, not board.
I have no idea what the ‘black kid’ (white hairdo) opposite the diver (who could be well sunburned white) is doing ‘wrong’.

Same people that dreamed this crap up must be related to NFL players that claimed the ‘banning of the N’word’ in NFL facilities was racist because ‘they’ were the only ones that used it, YET a black had lodged a ‘complaint’ over either a white or a referee using the term.

Hard to know when you are right or wrong when the complainers haven’t a clue.

Guess the key word is as long as some one is offended and the ‘offender’ is a white straight male, the WSM is wrong even if he is right.
