Casualties sustained during the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, could have been much higher if it was not for the work of a mysterious CIA officer, according to an official report from the House Select Committee on Benghazi.
The report, released Tuesday, noted that U.S. military support did not arrive to aid the small contingent of U.S. personnel defending the consulate during the attack. Instead, it was a militia made up of former Gaddafi loyalists known as Libyan Military Intelligence (LMI) that would come to the rescue of the U.S. officials several hours after the attack. According to the report, the militia group came to the aid of the officials thanks to a quick-thinking CIA officer known only as “Officer A.”

As dawn broke the next morning, former Ghaddafi officers unknown to both the CIA and State rolled a 50-vehicle LMI convoy full of heavy weapon gun trucks into the annex to assist in evacuation, the report said. The officers had gone into hiding after Ghaddafi’s fall, fearing rival militia groups might hunt them down. In effect, the U.S. officials have those they ousted from power to thank.

Shouldn't that be the "CIA annex"?
Press and politicians have been conflating terms used to describe the place where the ambassador was and the place where the CIA was. They have been making up new terms as well, eg "campus" (no sure exactly WHAT Gowdy was referring to when he used that in presser yesterday)...and don't even get me started on the term "stand down order". MSM, and many here at FR, glommed onto that one to signify a myriad of commands.
Unsung heroes who will need to stay in the shadows for a long time.....lest they be made ‘nonpersons’ by those who are at risk of being exposed for the criminals they are. Thank the Lord for these people with a conscience.

Unsung heroes... kinda. The CIA annex was a covert operation to smuggle weapons and missiles to Al Qeida in Syria by way of Turkey.
That entire bunch including Stevens was arming Al Qeida and the Syrian rebels that became ISIS. All part of Obama and Hillary’s crazed plan to remove secular strongmen in Egypt, Libya, and Syria and replace them with Sunni theocracies. So while I can intellectually admire the fighting skill amd bravery of the people involved, they were ON the side of terrorism.
Benghazi, start to finish was like Sinaloa fighting the Gulf Cartel.

That wasn’t patriotism. The CIA in Libya was on the side of Al Qeida and the moslem brotherhood. Al Qeida attacked us on 911. Libya was where we literally switched sides in the war in terror and stopped fighting AQ and began supporting them.
$10 says Obama will get on TV and praise this CIA officer by name and say what city and state you can find him in.

I do know that at the time Gaddafi was killed there were a lot of Loyalists still armed in Libya. I also saw information on the web from some in Portugal identifying Ansar Al Sharia as being responsible the night of the attack. (those in Portugal are still present on the web)
There were unrelated reports early on after Benghazi 9/11 that Turkish diplomats had just left the “mission” when the attack took place.
I suspect there was more than 1 element involved and that Obama played a hand that blew up in his face.
