A strong majority of Democrats would cancel the 2016 presidential election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump if it meant President Obama could serve another term, a new poll found.
Data provided to The Hill by the conservative polling outlet WPA Research found that 67 percent of Democrats would take a third term for Obama over a potential Clinton administration.
Only 28 percent said theyre ready to move on from the Obama White House, while 6 percent are undecided.
Obama is enjoying a surprisingly strong approval rating for a president serving out the final months of his second term.
A Washington Post-ABC News survey released this week found Obamas net approval rating approaching 80 points in positive territory among Democrats. Former President Bill Clinton was at about 60 points positive within his own party at this point in 2000, while former President George W. Bush was under 40 with Republicans.
At the same time, a Gallup survey from April found Clintons net approval rating among Democrats hitting a new low. She had a 63-point net positive approval rating last November. That plummeted to only 36 points in April.
The results should give pause to the Hillary Clinton campaign as Democratic respondents clearly prefer the status quo to a Clinton presidency, a memo from WPA said.
Clinton is looking to unite Democrats behind her campaign after a bitterly fought primary against Bernie Sanders.
There was good news for Clinton on this front in The Washington Post survey released this week, which found Sanders supporters moving quickly behind Clinton over Trump.
The WPA survey of 384 registered Democrats was conducted between June 22 and 27 and has a margin of error of 5 percentage points.
Come on now 384 Democrats!!
BAWHAHA ...this doesn’t bode well for the she devil then!! They don’t want her!
I wonder what Bill and Hill will do about that.
LOL, dream on. Berniebots are furious at her.
A Majority of Democrats would like to have a king who would rule as a dictator.
PROGRESSIVE = REPRESSIVE
Liberals are the most intolerant, tyrannical bastards on the face of the earth.
Please see my tagline.
[ Majority of Democrats want Third Term for Obama ]
Further proof you just can’t fix stupid.
Some sort of crises, followed by marshal law; two years, postpones the election, no pushback from the GOPe because it all makes the Trump issue go away. The coup would be complete.
As annoying as this is, it does not bode well for Clinton that Democrats would favor a third Obama term over a Clinton presidency. From the Democratic perspective she has none of his pluses and no plusses of her own other than a vagina.
She won’t fare well in the real rough and tumble of a campaign as she hasn’t had to fight yet. The press has given her a walk or a participation trophy every time she has “campaigned.” But in the real world she has to fend off Trump. That won’t be easy.
Not to mention the awesome economy and record number of people not working, I wonder why nobody notices that the “refugee” problem is being caused by wars O’Bunghole himself started in the middle east.
Democrats would vote for a poodle for president as long as the entitlement gravy train keeps rolling along.
Run Obama then. SCOTUS has held that term limits are unconstitutional. Just get a court to find that the 22nd amendment is unconstitutional. There is no controlling legal precedent.
I was hoping Sanders supporters wouldn’t show up. Hopefully even 20% won’t show up. my biggest concern is actually Republican voters who are going to stay home in protest of God-knows-what. Even if its 10% that’s a lot. And George Will can go to hell as well as National Review.
Most Democrats would vote for Venezuelan style “democracy”.
Civics Tests for Voters!
This has been speculated for months. And no one will stop it.
It need not be any more difficult than what she's put up with so far. The press can continue to cover for her, and as long as the polls make the race "interesting" (let the lead flip back and forth), the public will be sufficiently bamboozled.
This "real world" thing is very difficult to get a handle on. It is emphatically not the thing the press or politicians deal with.
Speaking of term limits:
