‘I don’t know’: US AG Lynch claims ignorance on Clinton email probe timeline

US Attorney General Loretta Lynch has recused herself from deciding whether Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be charged in the classified email investigation, following outrage over the AG's private Monday meeting with Bill Clinton, the justice department announced Friday morning.

The announcement comes in the wake of accusations that the Obama appointee has a conflict of interest in the case, after she met with the former president on her government plane while on the tarmac of Phoenix, Arizona's Sky Harbor Airport on Monday.

Lynch will discuss the decision during an interview on Friday morning at the Aspen Ideas Festival, an anonymous DOJ official said.

Normally, the AG and other DOJ officials would have the final say in bringing charges in an investigation, but Monday’s 30 minute meeting is thought to have led to the change in protocol.

Although Lynch stressed the two did not discuss official business, she was accused of impropriety and and urged to recuse herself.

My sense is that these power groups never give such a job out without the person giving up totally ruinous information about themselves. That means Obama has the goods on comey. Clinton has info on Lynch as does Obama. Obama can ruin hillary, so she must not have yet given him what he wants. I can speculate what that is, but it appears Clinton wants to finesse him. Lynch put off the foundation email scandal for 27 months, but Obama has her recuse herself. Obama makes the call on special prosecutor so he’s back in driver’s seat.

Agree 100% with everything you posted. This time, the Clintons got caught. Somebody — perhaps an airport worker — tipped off a local news guy in Phoenix and what was supposed to be a secret meeting between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch became world news within three days. Clearly, Clinton was trying to influence — subtly or overtly — Lynch regarding the investigation into the server and the Clinton Foundation. Once it became news, Lynch punted and said she'd go along with whatever the FBI recommends. Now, there are freepers arguing this means that Lynch already knows Comey will recommend no charges be brought against HRC, but I don't find that persuasive at all. The usually-in-the-tank-for-HRC AP broke a story last week about HRC having a “shadow schedule” when she was Secretary of State, meaning that she had meetings with potential donors to the Clinton Foundation and these meetings never made it onto her official schedule. With stories like these still breaking, and with Bill Clinton having private meetings with Lynch, there's no way it's a done deal Comey isn't recommending any charges, especially in light of last month's devastating State Department report that made mincemeat of HRC vis-à-vis her private server. So...Bill Clinton, who appointed Lynch to the position she had before she was AG, has gone from having tremendous personal sway over her, and therefor, over whether HRC gets charged, to having no influence at all over whether HRC gets charged.

There is so much corruption now in the Democratic party, it’s a joke in other countries. I talked to a guy from Ireland and he said “Maybe the Brits need to take charge again and take out the trash. I said they lost two wars with us. he said maybe after looking at things today, it would have been better if they won. Another guy I talked to who is from Belgium said that even Russia has more ethics than the USA today, maybe DC should take a harder look at what they say and do because the rest of the world is perplexed right now. The world super power acting out of control. Its scaring the rest of the world. Some think a Hillary presidency will result in a nuclear exchange of weapons, based on her historic past.
