Ryan thought he could give them the space to protest because the Senate already voted against the bill. Instead, Democrats saw Ryan as weak and are doubling-down on the protests.

Ryan must be swift and hard when shutting this down, using all of his power to send a message of strength and control of the institution he leads, or else he must step down due to having no respect from half the chamber from now on.
