As to Newt having less baggage...I don’t know. They’ve each been married three times.

I think that Trump already knows who he will chose, or has chosen, for his VP. Of those currently being highlighted for public speculation, I do like Pence for his ability to run a state prudently and effectively. He is not a grandstander, hence not likely to run his mouth in his own interests as some of the talkative VP candidates are inclined to do. Trump is consistent in hiring the right person for the job he wants implemented. The VP position can be either ceremonial only or inclusive of many other tasks. I know Trump has the experience and knowledge to choose wisely. I expect no less.

Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (retired) was forced out by Obama for exposing the growing radical Islam threat. He is now a Trump advisor and allegedly being considered as VP.

Matt, add him to your poll!

Re: Newt: Laura Ingraham just tweeted a 2015 tweet by Newt where he was pushing/advocating for TPP, even linking to a video by then Speaker Boehner.

I have a problem with that. Laura is wise to bring it up.

I like Newt, but not for the VP pick. Newt “relentlessly promoted” Kasich as a VP pick on FOX before he thought he had a chance.

Sorry, but he pushed Kasich because they are friends and are both insiders.

Also, during the primary, Newt straddled the fence until he knew Trump won. Even then....he was not totally in Trumps corner during a couple of the media dust-ups. IMO, he doesn’t need to be in total lockstep but he doesn’t have to answer “every” question the media ask him either.(Newt has smartest man in the room syndrome)

I definitely want Newt in a strong position, in my opinion, he has too many ties to the establishment and I believe he would be a “constant” lobby for them at the VP spot.

Yes to everything you said, and will add: Newt is old news and I do not feel he can be trusted.

Trump needs a fresh face for his VP, whether it is a woman or a man, doesn’t matter. Just not an old, untrustworthy, — or carrying a lot of baggage.

I would also like someone a little younger and a proven conservative as his VP.... so they won’t pull a Lyndon B. Johnson on Trump.

Sessions is needed in the Senate. Corker and Christie are rinos. Joni would be wonderful but give her some more time then choose her. Newt has to much baggage. So that leaves Pence.

It doesn’t really matter, does it?

I see a dictatorship forming and those systems don’t need voting.

I know that Joni Ernst is new to the US Senate but she has a lot more executive and leadership experience than Obozo had in 2008 (I know, not that he should be a good standard but....). I like her for her “let’s make ‘em squeal” campaign ad! Castrating pigs on her farm, take that, Democrats and RINOs!

Whoever it is needs to be someone who is NOT a member of the political establishment. Having a non-establishment conservative VP on the ticket, someone with character provides some measure of insurance that the establishment will gain nothing by foul play against a president Trump.

Newt Gingrich is a moral zero, a man with zero apparent principles. If he is Trump’s VP pick, I will be supporting a third (ie. second) party presidential ticket.
