Good. I want Sessions or Gingrich. None of these faux “Tea Party” Republicans will do.

I really didnt want Ernst anyway to be VP..its either gonna be Newt or Michael Flynn, would be happy with either one. Trump said he wanted someone with foreign policy experience and legislative knowledge so I think Flynn or Newt would probably end up being VP

Good, I’d hate to see someone like Ernst got caught up with the likes of Trump.

He already has his VP picked, vetted and ready for Cleveland.

... and has for quite a while now. My guess is Flynn.

Ah, Newt and the house.... Catholic bishop’s led Ryan.... check out the Catholic bishops web site and you will get a feel for where lying Ryan’s allegiance lie. I do NOT have a clue how deep in the Catholic Bishops agenda, Newt’s allegiance lie, but the Catholic Bishops are a ‘communistic/socialistic’ organization and they could care less about our Constitution... They are ‘social justice’ liberals... It is an unknown as to whether or not Newt would come down on the side of our Constitution or with the Catholic Bishops.

I still believe Santorum is the dark horse here. He helps Trump in many ways. He has the legislative experience, ran a strong primary campaign in 2012, has loads of credibility with evangelicals, while endorsing Rubio, he nevertheless never had a bad word to say about Trump. He is from western PA which if Trump wins PA it will be because of this region. He helps in Ohio and other rust belt states and has similar positions to Trump on trade and international relations. The drawback on Santorum is that he hasn’t won anything in awhile, but that may not matter this year.

And on another note, my money is on Ivanka as the keynote speaker. There really is no other option if you recognize what Trump values. She is his stongest ally, well spoken, attractive and will soften his image with women.

Interesting. I would have to believe that Trump would make his key people pledge loyalty. The kind of loyalty the Clinton’s seem to be able to command from their people.

From what I’ve seen, Trump sets great store in loyalty. Would Noot sign on for that? I don’t know.

Trump will want someone that is comfortable on TV, and quick on his feet, not to mention sharp in their attack. Session and Newt are as good as you are going to get.

Far too many people on FR seem to want some softie pander candidate that will go in naive as if the media is the same as some AM radio talk show because they wrote a good op/ed 6 years ago, and that is “good enough”.

I do not know.... Some denominations require their own ‘loyalty’ pledges.

...if Noot is VP, does he become defacto house speaker again?

Per the Constitution, the VP is the President of the Senate.

All he could do is advise/lobby them. He would not much influence over them at all.

That is why I would sooner Trump takes someone else and then have Newt as head congressional advisor/political advisor.

“de facto” is what I meant. I understand the Veep’s constitutional role as Senate Prez. I suspect Noot’s still got clout on the House side.

Great news. It is Newt and that is so solid!! Don’t give me the “baggage” nonsense because there is none even when not compared to hillary.

Yes, moderate pro-choice. Pro-life groups that endorsed him: “We consider him a senator who votes prolife,” said MA Citizens for Life. “We have to take his word for it when he says he is prochoice. But what we’re looking for is someone who votes prolife, and he does.”

Good. She’s not an inspirational speaker and dynamic personality enough to be VP then Pres.

Can anyone answer why Alan West is NOT in the running???

I don’t get it. He’d be great.
