Have a cell phone?

Yeah, but I keep it in someone else’s pocket.
Look for insurance on Tesla self-driving vehicles to go up to $132,000 per year, and bodily injury to be separate, at another $20,000 per year.
Tesla will have to provide auto insurance on their self-driving vehicles, otherwise, the auto insurance companies will make owning and driving those vehicles, completely impractical.
Your idea will facilitate the rapid spread of 3rd world diseases. A world of johnny cabs.
I haven’t nosed around for Tesla insurance rates lately, but the standard S class has reasonable rates assuming a clean driving record. Not sure about the ones with super-car performance. I would assume Tesla would just disable the Autopilot if it becomes a liability..
At least the kids stayed home.
Tesla limited the Autopilot to divided highways, because owners were being potentially negligent while enabling it for city driving. Some owners had to pay $2K to have the feature enabled. If you have to pay attention all the time and keep your hands on the wheel, what is the benefit of having the autopilot enabled?
Brother had a brand new BMW 750 (?). Awesome car. Saw a Tesla Model X the other day. Looks like a grown up Prius. Fugly.
That’s really the bottom line with Tesla: In it’s price range, it doesn’t really stand out. Mercedes E-class and BMW 5-series are similar to Teslas, and buying one would leave enough money left over to buy at least 100,000 miles worth of gas.
Some Art dealership.
Well, then in addition to the windshield wiper fluid, install a large tank of disinfectant+alcohol. Install spritzers in cabin. After each ride, spray the interior with a layer of cleaning solution. The alcohol will help it dry faster.
You do raise a good point, and my post was more in the realm of science fiction. Maybe by the time this is technologically available most diseases will be eradicated. Anyway it was not so much an idea and not original, it has been written/shown before in scifi works. Just pointing out the inefficiency of car ownership, which itself is kinda obvious to anyone who thought about it for a minute - but why would anyone think about that unless prompted? :-)
Yes to me that is the point. The only reason I contemplated a Tesla was so that I could use the carpool lane on my commute. But typically traffic is not so bad, and I am one of the few people who actually does carpool, maybe 1 or 2 days a week. Most carpool lane cars are being driven by people who would already be 2 or more in the car, like mothers with their kids or husband and wife etc. IMO, carpool lanes are an atrocious abuse of the taxpayer, social engineering, etc.
Anyway, I’ve read more than one commentary remarking on how the Tesla is really just a trendy car for rich people and yuppies who use it as a 3rd vehicle. Either to show off, or to assuage their guilt, or to prove how environmentally friendly they are etc. It is far from being a luxury vehicle and the few things it does offer e.g. the computer bells and whistles (traffic update, streaming music etc) can be and is starting to be standard in all high-end cars. I had an Infiniti G35 oh about 10-12 years ago, and as far as computerized help goes it is still ahead of its time. I could send/receive text and email, bluetooth of course, I could change the air conditioner and fan speed, raise/lower windows, program a radio station and more all by voice command. And it cost then about 1/2 as much fully loaded as a base model Tesla does now. I am not sure why Infiniti is not more popular. But I digress.
That’s simple. Infiniti is not popular because it’s a Nissan. Lol
You’re right about Infiniti. The luxury high-tech Q70/Q70L is a real wonder, more spacious than a Tesla and half the cost.
