Donald Trump met Thursday with former GOP presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus in Washington, a source told CNN.
The meeting is the first time Cruz and Trump have met in person since the Texas senator dropped out of the presidential race after losing the Indiana primary more than two months ago.
The source could not say what the men discussed as they conferred at the National Republican Senatorial Committee headquarters where Trump also met with several dozen Republican senators on Thursday.
The Texas senator has so far refused to endorse Trump, but has not ruled it out.
While Cruz resisted criticizing Trump in the initial months of the GOP primary campaign, Cruz would eventually become one of Trump's fiercest rivals -- and the last remaining legitimate challenge to Trump's campaign to win the Republican presidential nomination.
And the final weeks of Cruz's campaign were dominated by Trump's personal attacks against the Texas senator and his family as the fight between the two men grew increasingly bitter and personal.
In late March, Trump threatened to "spill the beans" on Cruz's wife after an anti-Trump super PAC unaffiliated with Cruz's campaign pushed out a series of digital ads aimed at portraying Trump's wife in a negative light. And Trump would later also retweet an unflattering picture of the Texans' wife alongside a glamorous shot of his own wife with the caption "the images are worth a thousand words."
And as Indiana's Republican voters headed to the polls, Trump again turned to the personal, accusing Cruz's father of being involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

I can’t speak for others, lodi90. Nor can do I have a voice to reach others outside of my realm of influence.
The #NeverTrump faction has been purged from Freerepublic, as it should have been, but the “F@#! Cruz and his followers” faction still infest Freerepublic and grow more vocal and more entrenched every day.
It has to end. If we don’t unite, we can’t win. And if the #NeverCruz faction keeps driving out long time Freepers, FreeRepublic won’t survive this election, either.
Dear Lord, you are naive. Cruz talked with his Super PAC. Only a fool would believe that the candidates and their SPs don’t communicate. The evidence was all around you, yet, some continue to believe the lies - so just shut up!
That is a serious violation of campaign laws and every campaign knows it. In June of 2015, as the primary races got under way, a political operative was sentenced to 2 years in Federal prison for violating the law.
All campaigns have been very careful not to violate that law.

What I like most is I made the change in January, well before our primary.
I know quite a few others up here that will have no problem voting for Trump. That's a silly notion you have.
We want the Populist, CONSERVATIVE, America-First ticket we have with Trump.
Cruz will not be the VP pick because Trump knows and has said he is ineligible - Trump would not sabotage his own ticket.
I frankly don’t care WHAT Cruz supporters do. They can stay home, vote Libertarian, vote for the Witch, ... I don’t care. They’ve already proven what they support - Globalism. Dishonesty. Sleazyness. Phoniness. Corruption. Let them drown in it. We will still win.
