Sen. Ted Cruz, Donald Trump's former chief rival for the GOP nomination, will speak at the Republican National Convention later this month, the Texas senator told reporters after the two met Thursday in Washington.

Cruz told reporters Thursday that the real estate mogul offered his former primary rival a speaking slot during the meeting and Cruz accepted. He added that he and Trump did not discuss an endorsement.

I don’t understand why Mr. Trump sees a need to ‘unite’ with a globalist deceiver.

This seems like a YUGE mistake, BUT, I will yield to DJT’s superior intellect.

Better this way. Now Mike Lee doesn’t have to embarrass himself or imperil his career by using a speech to rally the NeverTrumpers. Better this way for more party unity.

A Cruz vice-presidency would seal the deal for Trump once and for all.

Only in that it would undermine Trump to the point I could not in good conscious vote for him.
(Amendment 12 applies the eligibility requirements of the president to the Vice President; Mr. Cruz is demonstrably ineligible and I will not erode the Constitution with my vote.)

Only thing I want to hear from him is.

” I support And endorse Donald J Trump and release all my delegates to vote for him !”

hoping and praying for a Trump/Cruz ticket.

The VP eligibility is the same as the President's due to the 12th Amendment; putting Cruz in either spot weakens the overtly nationalistic NBC requirement to nullity, thus capitulating yet another safeguard to the globalists.

Months ago I opined that Cruz could not win in the general election without Trump's supporters, and that Trump could not win in the general election without Cruz's supporters. I stand by that judgment. Those two have to get along with each other, and their more passionate supporters need to stop with the slander.

I also opined that we had three choices in November, 2016:

1) Cruz
2) Trump
3) We're screwed.

I stand by that, as well. Except that we may be screwed anyway. 0bama is doing unbelievable damage.

Vote Trump ... for at least a fighting chance.

Nope, have said since last August that I thought Trump had the best chance of getting the nomination and that I would support him if he did.

But so many of Trump’s supporters keep re-opening the bitterness of the fight, keep rubbing salt in the wounds, and keep saying to hell with Cruz and his supporters that it seems as if they want Hillary to win.

It has been over two months since Trump clinched the nomination, and still you find childish insults about Cruz on almost every thread about Trump or the upcoming general election.

During the time for unity and reconciliation, the sore winners on this site still drive actively attempt to drive away 25% of the Republican Primary voters.

Trump can’t win without them and he knows it. That’s why he is reaching out and reconciling. I wish the sore winners on this site would take a cue from their candidate and do likewise.

I agree with you. Trump got his endorsement or he’s too stupid to be president. Part of the deal is that ted surprises everyone with his endorsement. But if Ted goes back on his word, trump’s bodyguards get to haul his butt off the stage immediately.

Maybe trump pulled out an airtight, legally-binding contract and made Ted sign it: “I get your delegates; you endorse me and I write your speech; then you get a speaker slot and Supreme Court position.” Lol!

Actually, if I understand the convention rules correctly, anyone who won the plurality
of delegates in at least 8 states has the right to speak if he/she so chooses.

**************

The 2016 Convention Rules haven’t been adopted by the Convention delegates yet.
That occurs once the convention is in session. Don’t know about the 8 state speaking
rule but there was a rule in the 2012 Convention that a candidate had to win 8 states
to be placed in Nomination. Thus if placed in nomination I guess one would get a
speaking slot.

If Cruz is smart he’ll use this slot to end the animosity between the two camps and
ask his supporters to fully endorse and support Trump as the nominee. We’ll see.

It’s unrealistic to expect that split to heal until Cruz calls off his nevertrumpers who are still trying to divide the floor vote. JMO. I don’t agree with the nastiness was towards Cruz but at the same time, I won’t trust him until post convention, based in his future actions. Fool me once... Blah blah blah.

I’m glad we agree Cruz belongs on the ticket Look the threads since Cruz dropped out The insults and vitriol against Cruz supporters continue almost at the level they did before the race was decided. While I have decided trump is better than Hilary and will vote for him this fall I do not deny it would ease the pain to watch trump supporters pull the lever for Cruz

Great. All the Cruz cultists are back, convinced he will be VP. He won’t. Nor will he be a Judge. Wake up.

I don’t want to hear Cruz’s whiny-assed voice, but this is the right thing to do. Trump will be the bigger man, and it will help heal some butthurt.

Well, I was a Cruz supporter but I care not at all if Cruz endorses or does not endorse.

No way I am not voting for Trump in November if he is the nominee.

Any non-insane person knows to vote against Hillary.

I don’t need any endorsement from any politician to know she must lose.

Same should be the case for every one.

I will go even farther.

If the insurrection that is rumored is somehow successful (it won’t be - it’s hype) and Kasich stole the nomination, I would vote for him to beat Hillary.

If somehow the Green or Libertarian were shown unequivocally to be the best chance to beat her, I would vote for that candidate to keep Hillary out.

This latter scenario will not happen, I am just making the point that petty animosities are stupid and anything other than a vote for the candidate that can beat her (which will be Trump unless something incredible happens) is imperative and a no-brainer.

She must not be elected.
