Christie seems normal and capable to me, but I come from a family that hasn’t lived further than 45 minutes or so from Manhattan since Cohan called that a vast cultural chasm.

And even the natives don’t always appreciate Christie.
Past Pennsylvania his popularity has a steep decline.

Nor do I think he’d add to Trump’s numbers, not that Gingrich would either.

Also, I believe both Gingrich and Pence would adjust more readily to a #2 spot, than Christie would. Gingrich because he’s old and mellowed, Pence because he (imo) is chameleonic and adaptable by nature.

What I like most about Gingrich is the way he responds to liberal nonsense. He yanks it away and clubs them with it.

We don’t need another elegantly mannered powder puff like Romney on the ticket, doing the minuet when confronted with street fighters.

VP pick will not decide this election.

He dared went up against the Teacher’s Union and won.

That was the first year or two of his first term. He has done absolutely nothing since then. It's like he said "okay, I can put 'took on the unions' into my resume so no need to do more"

Mike Pence had his own radio show for a few years. If you listened to him at all you know he is qualified. I like the idea of him starting as VP & moving into the presidency. I’m definitely in his corner!

I truly don’t understand why everyone just dismisses him out of hand.

The Bible Belt will not vote Christie. Trump loses with Christie.

The 40 or so people posting on this thread are not “everyone.”

He has took them on a few times already

He also prevented them from bankrupting the state with demands of a “fully funded pension” which is impossible since the pension system is just a giant Ponzi scheme anyways (and should be illegal)

Whether or not you like Christie, I think Scarborough made a persuasive case against Pence.

I watched the first 30 minutes of Morning Joe and I have to disagree with your take.

Scarbrough made me think about Congressman Mike Pence and the number of FReepers who used to tout "Pence for POTUS."

I don't think Pence is the push-over "some" envision.

Pence in Indiana for the past 3 years has dulled memories.

Newt would wipe the debate floor with Hitlery’s VP.

Sort of like Hitlery wiped the floor running against some forgettable character named Rick Lazio by invoking Newt who dared challenge her for her carpet bag senate seat in 2000?

Joe’s right on Pence.

Pence would be every ‘unknown’ VP that dragged down a national ticket - from Thomas Eagletonn to Geraldine Ferraro to Dan Quayle to all the rest of the ‘deer in the headlights’ VP choices...

That said Newt’s the best choice... the press can’t lay a glove on him... he knows their games and he’s smarter...

Actually, Obama stumbled plenty in 2008, but he was well protected by a dishonest propagandistic MSM that did not highlight his babbling:

I voted for Cruz, I am 100% Trump now. Cruz would have been good, Tom Cotton, Allen West, Herman Cain. Others too.

Scarborough is stupid. He thinks Christie is best equipped to prosecute the case against Hillary Clinton. I agree, but it would not be the VP’s job, Joe. Christie needs to be Attorney General - that’s where he could serve most valuably.

So you want to listen to a RINO/Liberal on who the first real Republican since Ronald Reagan should pick for VP. OK.

If Trump picks Christie, he will lose to Hillary.

Chris Christie was the U.S. attorney who put Charles Kushner in jail. No way Trump's son-in-law would stand still for him being on the ticket. Probably not even in the cabinet.

No, but in my limited circle of contacts, who have formed their opinions from media reports & believe everything they hear, all lean against Pence. Discouraging because I think he would make a GREAT POTUS!
