Amazing how they admit the rebels had fighter jets, by stating they have no more. The fact that the rebels had F16s is probably why the US bugged out its air assets from Turkey.

Without a doubt. He’s only 62 years old so he got a good twenty years to go crazy. Batshit crazy like Hitler.

If the outpouring crowds were spontaneous popular support, why were there virtually no women (1/2 of the population), like there were in islamic Iran or Egypt, when they had popular protests.

..Or like there were in Turkey during the recent Gezi Park demonstrations?

Maybe because these were Erdogan goon squads. What dictator doesn’t have them?

And the soldiers did not shoot the sh*t of the people who turned out to oppose the coup.

CNN reporting that 5 generals and 29 colonels have been arrested.

Now call me old-fashioned but if you are a general or colonel involved in a coup d’etat to overthrow your government I kinda doubt you will be sitting quietly at home waiting for the police to come around and arrest you.

This thing stinks to high heavens.

Clashes ongoing but ‘about to end’

Clashes at the paramilitary headquarters, while continuing, are “about to come to an end”, Turkey’s police chief says.

Read a report that his vacation room or suite was bombed or they attempted a bombing, but he was not there.

I saw that, also. Too little, too late. Dang! Missed him!

'Tis interesting that the drive time from Marmaris to Dalaman Airport, where his Gulfstream was parked, is 1h18m, according to Google. If he had a copter, that would decrease to 20 or 30 minutes.

But, in any coup, it's best to kill the king first!

They should have killed him right from the start, even a suicide attack. Now so many have died and more will.

Like the photo on the previous page of some officer quietly getting arrested, nice clean uniform. What’s going on.

Probably only an assassination would save the secular Turkish Republic at this point.

The guy getting arrested still has his cap on to cover his balding head. No struggle at all. None. As some other freepers have suggested this was either a fake coup or perhaps he is just arresting loyalists for show. To demonstrate he is winning.

False flag has been tossed around since the beginning of this, and I didn’t give it any notice. But now I’m wondering if Erdog did get one of his loyalists to start it, roped in those who thought it was real, and voila.

If so, may someone freaking put a stake through his heart soon. Actually, either way.

Did you see the size of the crowd?

With so many successful coups in Turkey you had to assume this is another one. The main problem here is that Erdogan blamed Washington for the coup attempt to the Arab media. Apparently DC was backing his rival cleric in PA. How does that fit with Obama coming out against the coup plotters ? Seriously messed up stuff there. Is Obama going to claim some type of covert candlestine US intergovernment coup plotters ? How can we continue to forward deploy nukes in that environment ?

“Did you see the size of the crowd?”

I watched all night, but most crowds I saw confronting the Army consisted of a few hundred - like those that took the Bosphorus bridge, and those that took the Attaturk Airport. There may have been a bunch of civilians in a big square or park, but the crowds that I saw taking tanks and such mostly looked to me more like undercover cops and young jihadis than the general public.

Erdogon addressed a crowd - he went into the crowd and addressed the crowd. At least one or two thousand, at least, thronging in to the area.
