Turkey: Coup Has Failed, Erdogan More Powerful Than Ever
PJ Media ^ | 16 July 2016 | Michael Van Der Galien

Izmir, Turkey -- It's a done deal: the military coup has failed. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AK Parti remain in power and vow to take revenge against those behind the coup.

Or, perhaps better said: against those they say are behind it.

Now that the coup has clearly failed, we can conclude that this must have been the most incompetent attempted takeover in Turkey's troubled history. When part of the military launched their offensive last night (Turkish time), I immediately checked news channels supporting President Erdogan. Surprisingly, none of them were taken over. The only broadcaster that was taken over was TRT Haber, the state news channel. But NTV and other channels supporting Erdogan were left alone.

That was remarkable, but what struck me even more was the fact that these channels -- especially NTV -- were able to talk to the president and the prime minister. That's strange, to put it mildly. Normally, when the military stages a coup, the civilian rulers are among the first to be arrested. After all, as long as the country's civilian leadership are free, they can tell forces supportive of them what to do... and they can even tell the people to rise up against the coup.

Erdogan had years to purge the military for just such a reason.

I am worried. The coup plotters fled to Greece (as opposed to an Islamic country). Do they represent the more secular faction? Will the hard line Islamics take over the country? Will Turkey become just like Iran? Not good news.

Well, that’s too bad.
I was hoping the military would bring Turkey back from the brink.
They are completely Islamist now.
We should consider them a threat, not an ally.

Maybe it wasn’t a coup. Maybe it was a purge that met resistance.

In relations with Kurds, in relations with Israel, in relations with everyone, Turkey has always in the past been influenced by the agenda of the US and its president.

But since the start of leading from behind, there has been a vacuum, mostly filled by ISIS, the Brotherhood, etal. Turkey and other countries have not had the institutions needed to handle this vacuum.

Turkey is in a no-win situation with its neighbors. Syria? Iraq? Iran? Or on the other side Greece? You got to feel sympathy for the Turks.

". . . we can conclude that this must have been the most incompetent attempted takeover in Turkey's troubled history. "

Seems to me it has all the hallmarks of a coup triggered prematurely by a portion of the plotters who were in reality part of the Turk Intelligence apparatus.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would have planned to pulled the pin on a coup against the egomaniac in charge if their main target wasn't in country, in a known location, where they were sure he'd be easily within their grasp in short order.

Looks like someone knew enough about the plot to trigger some portion of the troops involved and the plotters were in a mess from the get go because all the parts weren't working together or even ready to do their part.

As for, "stronger than ever", I doubt it.

Good question. Hand him over on a silver platter? But not for the airbase. Hussein would love to see Incirlik shut down, imo.

what struck me even more was the fact that these channels -- especially NTV -- were able to talk to the president and the prime minister. That's strange, to put it mildly. Normally, when the military stages a coup, the civilian rulers are among the first to be arrested. After all, as long as the country's civilian leadership are free, they can tell forces supportive of them what to do... and they can even tell the people to rise up against the coup.

That's because it wasn't a coup - it was a forced outing of military dissidents, a purge. And it was coordinated with the West for dog-wagging.

Consider: Hillary is slammed by Comey. Let off the hook, yes, but he listed everything needed to assert her guilt. So Hillary is free, but everybody knows she's been exposed as a traitorous rat.

What is needed? Wag the Dog.

Next: Dallas shooting. Focus completely off of Hillary, nation outraged. But, while Hillary is off the front page, now everyone is furious with BLM. Shooter is connected with Islam, but claims he did it for BLM. Majorly doesn't fit the narrative. Needs another Wag the Dog.

Next: Nice Massacre. Jihadist. Totally grabs the front page away from Dallas and BLM. New problem is that the entire world gets fed up with ISIS, demands world war against them. While our President refuses to even acknowledge Muslim involvement, Trump and Putin declare war in their own ways, pictures of dead bodies make the whole world start to roll up its sleeves in rage. Big narrative problem. Needs another Wag the Dog.

Next: Turkey Coup. Except it's not a coup, but some sort of lame rebellion that effectively purges the military of those against Islamicization. Probable true purpose - a purge to consolidate Erdogan's strengths.

Conclusion: whether by opportunistic ISIS actors or some other Islamic mechanism, the world is being played like a violin. This IS war - we're literally looking at it. And it all started, as usual, to cover Hillary's ass, counting on (and receiving) the media's support. And it all continued, step after step, through Muslim terrorists, in one way or another.

Anyone remember the Clinton crisis exhaustion, and Friday data dumps, of the 90's, and how utterly tiring that was, month after month, year after year? Welcome to the global version.

This is what fundamental transformation looks like.

Fundamental transformation looks like the inside of the shroud over a patriot’s eyes as s/he faces the firing squad.
