Serious civil unrest and war got Republican Richard Nixon elected president almost 50 years ago.

That was in 1968. The same could work for Donald Trump in 2016.

The country was torn apart in the '60s with anti-Vietnam War demonstrations, race riots and the burning of neighborhoods and cities in Watts, Newark, Detroit and elsewher

The thing I’ve always wondered is what would happen to rioters if you had 5 or 6 Apache gunships open up with the miniguns on them?

And what effect this would have, if any, on the likelihood of future riots?

Yeah, the democrats rioting doomed Hubert Humphrey’s presidential hopes in 1968. Definitely feels like that all over again.

This is not 1968. This isn’t about race relations, though the CIC wants it to be. This is about 60 years of failed Democrat policies and 8 years of extreme leadership failure.

Sorros is backing black lives matter. North Viet Nam supported John Hanoi kerrry in his anti-American efforts. Now Iran is propping up anti-American groups.

While there are parallels to the 60’s the situation is much different today.

LBJ & Richard Daley Sr were the bad guys in 1968.

My how the media has changed direction.

The lies are still there but the targets are 180 degrees in the opposite direction.

The difference is, in 1968 the enemy wasn’t migrating to our soil.

Kerry is trying to re-live his glory days as an anti-war protestor, and Sharpton and Jackson are still trying to be the next MLK and revive the civil rights struggle so they can becom immortal and have streets and schools named after them.

Obama...well he just wants to be da King of everybody.

Posse comitatus.
Not allowed.
Besides, do you really want to set that precedent?
Remember, the Democrats want to kill off the NRA - and sooner or later they are getting back into power.

What war?

Near as I can tell Obama has surrendered pretty much every place on the globe where he can.

In 1967 it was the National Guard that was deployed including APCs and a few tanks. In ‘68 was it the 82nd? I lived in Detroit's suburbs at the time and we were loading our own shotgun shells in the basement, preparing for the new Alamo...

Only with the help of the media a dream come true for them they need a story to take all the problems away from the democrats caused.

A line I wish one (or more) speakers would use, maybe even for commercials: All this “progress” from the Democrats ... they’ve progressed us all the way back to 1968. Yeah.

Yes, the 82nd backed up the guard and the machine guns did some serious work to shut the punks up.

I remember seeing APCs on the streets - it was a bad time and looks like we’re heading for the same violence all over again. There are many groups who are pushing the envelope, hoping things will explode. Detroit was gutted and then they came up with a new concept called the “Renaissance”. It didn’t really work though...
