Full title: State troopers from Mass., N.H. arrested and charged with assault after video showed officers punching driver

Authorities in New Hampshire said that they had arrested two state troopers and charged them with assault for their actions during a violent arrest captured on video earlier this year.

The arrest occurred after a long police chase that began in Massachusetts and ended in New Hampshire, after which at least two officers were seen on the video repeatedly punching the driver who had led the pursuit.

After video of the incident began to spread online, Joseph Foster, the New Hampshire attorney general, launched a criminal investigation into the episode. The New Hampshire State Police and Massachusetts State Police each pulled a trooper involved in the incident from duty while the investigation was carried out.

On Tuesday, Foster announced that the two troopers — Joseph Flynn, 32, of the Massachusetts State Police, and Andrew Monaco, 31, of the New Hampshire State Police — were arrested and charged with simple assault for their use of force during the arrest.

You would not understand if it was explained to you. Have a nice day. The accused will have their day in Court. Our system of Government has three equal and independent of each other branches. There is the Legislative Branch which enacts the law[s]. There is the Executive Branch which enforces the law[s]. The police agencies are a part of this branch. The tools and equipment that you listed are to aid them in enforcing the laws , keeping order, and when necessary, the apprehension of violators of said laws. There is no provision for punishment of said violators. Also there are a number of former officers now in the penal system for believing that their role also consisted of inflicting punishment on the defendant. There is the Judicial Branch which interprets the law[s] The Court system comprise this branch. Judging by your responses. you have been watching too many t.v. cop programs.

I watched these takedowns.

In the first one, the guy ran after stopping his motorcycle.

In the second, the guy stopped once and actually started to surrender, putting his arms up, then changed his mind and fled again.

Part of this is a matter of psychology and human behavior.

Running from police has to do with wanting or not wanting something so much, one is willing to fight viciously for one’s goals.

It isn’t human nature to just suddenly shrug and give up something that we have dug in and fought viciously for.

In the motorcycle case, the guy just didn’t give up, but ran off. Then he tried hiding. And as the commentators said, he only seemed to give up when he realized there was nowhere to hide.

In the second case, the guy changed his mind after starting to surrender. It seems like he surrendered both times when he thought his ATV wouldn’t go on (since there was no other escape option for him in the Everglades).

In the case with the troopers, the man surrendering just then, and dropping his fight, very likely surprised the officers so that they didn’t know what to make of it, and were suspicious that he would start to fight again at some point.

Once again, I’m not saying they did no wrong, or didn’t make any mistakes, but perhaps they didn’t, or perhaps it wasn’t nearly so bad as many people want to make out, but more of a borderline case.

Interesting that a lone cop can cuff someone who has run but eight cops cannot with beating the dude up ...

As I said, part of it is a matter of psychology, and reading someone’s behavior and the circumstances.

911 might be called on different people for similar reasons, but the two people the police are dealing with, and the two situations, are going to be different, and have to be treated as such.

What was the prior record of the motorcycle rider? And all-in-all during the chase he might not have shown the same reckless disregard for others as the truck driver did, and perhaps the truck driver also showed a desire to be violent. Perhaps when he tried to ram the police car days before, it wasn’t just to get away, but showed a desire to injure police.

The motorcycle rider had also tried getting away and hiding, and saw he couldn’t. The truck driver’s sudden giving up likely seemed to make no psychological sense.

The truck driver could have tried running away, just as the motorcycle rider did.

What is your overall position on the idea being popularized that the police are the "real criminals," aren't there to serve the public but are psychopaths with guns and badges who love to oppress and kill people?

“The truck driver could have tried running away, just as the motorcycle rider did.”

Then they should have beat up the motorcyclist, also?

What is your reason for completely ignoring the other part of my last reply to you:
