CLEVELAND, Ohio — Seema Mehta, a Los Angeles Times correspondent covering fact-checkers during Donald Trump’s speech to the Republican National Convention Thursday evening, had to report his crime statistics as “mostly accurate.” Her complete headline at the Times blog was: “Donald Trump’s crime stats are mostly accurate but his conclusions are a stretch.” In other words, because his facts cannot be corrected and then mocked, his policies must be ridiculed instead.

I think he should push for death penalty for police officers. The federal govt steps in for hate crimes so why not? Got to figure out a way to make killing police punishable by death.
First line should read death penalty to those who kill police.

The liberal media has been spinning things for the democrats’ benefit for 40+ years now. When they feel threatened, they really go overboard, so seeing how they are acting, they are afraid of Trump.
Perhaps someone (FReepers are the most knowledgeable people I’ve ever encountered) can answer something for me. If a person or corporation is limited on the amount of money they can contribute to a political campaign, then why can a television show like Colbert or his predecessor, Stewart, continually bash one party? By virtue, doesn’t that then make that television show a defacto arm of the opposing campaign? The air time is tangible, is it not?

You can count contributions - they show up on a balance sheet.
It is harder to determine the value ‘in-kind’ contributions, when there is no evidence that they are, in fact, contributions. The media would plea that it “It is just entertainment, not political advocacy.”

Every ‘fact checker’ in the MSM IS a liberal elite who hates Republicans in general and Trump in particular.
They are biased haters who lack to honesty to say who they are... It’s as if the Klu Klux Klan was ‘fact checking’ stories about race. Yes, even if they attempted to be professional ( as most fact checkers do) there’s the natural bias of their true feelings and hatreds.
If these newspaper ‘fact checkers’ REALLY wanted to be fair they would have conservatives on their work teams. They DO NOT...
Last night they sought to take on Trump's claim that unemployment in the Hispanic community has increased 2 million since 2000 (or was it 2008?).
Anyway, the fact checker had to admit Trump's statistics were correct, BUT... (!)
The poverty rate has only increased .4%, moving from 23.4% to 23.8% (I'm doing these numbers from memory, so bear with me!), thereby invalidating Trump's premise!!!
Never mind he didn't mention anything about poverty levels in the Hispanic community, or elsewhere, for that matter. No, we see through this sham Trump is perpetuating, and declare him GUILTY!
This is what “Fact Checkers” do these days.
They ended the segment with a smile, saying “next week we're going to fact check the Democrats”. I mean, this is such a target-rich environment, how can they miss?!?
