This was an accident. This is a man’s life you are saying should be extinguished.

Do you eat meat? If so, should you be killed, because, for your pleasure, you chose to pay someone to kill a decent animal?

there really are some mindless non-thinkers who post stuff that really shouldn’t be posted...anywhere.

Those poor dogs, and my heart goes out big time to the individual in charge of them. What an awful situation for all.

The other night, my man and I were driving home on the interstate when we took the appropriate exit to change hwys. The exit had concrete blocks on both sides and only a 3 foot breakdown lane, along with several forks that emptied onto the ramp we were on. As we neared a portion of the ramp without concrete walls on the left, I spotted a dog entering the ramp. He was just lumbering along, taking his time, obviously oblivious to the danger he was in.

I couldn’t stop as I had cars behind me and no place TO stop, or I would have called the dog to me and got him into my car. But, he’d of been hit anyway as he crossed. Well, the car behind me hit him...hard. I circled around to re-enter the ramp in the hope that he was ok, but he wasn’t. He took his last breaths just as we pulled up.

No cars were on the ramp, so my guy jumped out and pulled the dog off the road so that he wouldn’t be hit again, and to keep other drivers safe. It was heartbreaking. The dog looked just like my own dog except for the color. He had tags so he belonged to someone and wasn’t street-wise. As big as he was..well fed, well muscled, shiny beautiful brindle coat...someone loved him. I cried all the way home.

We notified the appropriate authorties, made a report and headed home..both of us in tears. There wasn’t a think we could do to prevent it.

So yes, my heart empathizes with the owners of the dogs that died in that truck. I too have traveled with animals in trucks, and we always opened the back door to allow for air circulation. You CAN’t trust AC units not to fail. What a hard lesson to learn.

One thing this is puzzling. The accident happened at a hotel. Most motels and hotels now allow pets in rooms, with an additional fee. You’d think that individuals who invest so much money in breeding and showing champion dogs would place their animals inside the hotel, under the care of the owner or handler.

However, I am not a breeder or a handler; just the proud owner of a noble basset hound and two yippy chihuahuas (the hound claims me, while the chi’s bond with Mrs. Spook). Their only competition consists of finding the best spot on the couch with us to watch TV or take a nap.

seems to me that people that show dogs as a hobby treat their dogs with TLC at all times....this was just a horrible incident....

What the hell was Corral's plan if the "hotel" could not provide electricity for her AC ?

This AC unit had to draw 20 amps easily. Her Rig was set up to do that ? And the "hotel" had 20+ amp outlets ?

What about when she's driving ? Her GD truck or car could not provide the kind of AC needed for that many dogs !

No, She would need a generator to provide the 20 amp power needed to cool the trailer they were in. and that generator would have to run constantly.

She sounds like a $hit puppy mill owner, not some "show dog" owner

Unless there’s a need for a vet visit, my dogs are all grounded until cooler weather comes.

No such thing as infallible AC.

This is, sadly, the first year that Odin did not get to the stores for his birthday, July 12.

It was in the 90s and he had to make do with raw bones and a squeaky snake toy.

On a similar note, everybody and their brother asks me where Pinky the Boa is, when I’m out on my Harley.

So I have to explain to them that, while ‘too cold’ may not be not optimal, ‘too hot’ is lethal for snakes.

He could get irreparable neurological damage from a surprisingly short exposure to high temps.

Love your critters, leave them home.

Shockingly, I have seen people hauling dogs around in the high 90s, lately.

Shut the idiot driver up in similar conditions. I’d laugh as she suffered. Poor innocent dog babies.

Do you think that the hotel would allow FOURTEEN large dogs into ONE hotel room? Really?

Really? Seems to me this person took due care and only intended to safely transport, not kill the animals. Geez.

Your rhetoric is applicable in far too many stories of horrific behavior toward animals, but not in this case.

Truly a sad story, and one that will haunt the driver for the rest of her life.

Hotels will typically allow one or two dogs at most. This is just such a tragedy. The handler had an alarm that normally would have gone off if the temps rose in the van. The circuit breaker tripping disabled it.

I’ve been around dog shows most of my life. People travel to shows and keep large dogs in vans, but they either have AC units on the rigs or they use multiple fans and ice packs in the kennels. This was an experienced dog person with a great reputation and she is devastated.

You should also never leave a dog in the car with the car running and the air conditioner on thinking that it’s safe.... they overheat easily and dogs die all the time in cars that people leave running thinking they’re doing their dog a favor! dogs should not be in a box truck for any reason. this person was irresponsible and the dogs suffered for it plain and simple. One should do their homework before transporting animals.

So, let's pretend your post is spot on...

You would stuff the owner into the hot trailer and leave him to die as a just and righteous penalty...?

I mean, that was the point of your post !!!

“He took his last breaths just as we pulled up.”

You never forget something like that.

I saw an English Sheepdog die in the road once, and it was about FORTY years ago.

I can still see it in my mind.
