Hugh Hewitt: Winners and losers in Cleveland
Washington Examiner ^ | July 24, 2016 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 07/25/2016 6:56:41 PM PDT by EveningStar

...Donald Trump came, saw and conquered. His children went four for four in terrific speeches with Ivanka almost stealing the night from her father.

But it was the original Trump who milked his long Thursday night speech — purposeful and a ratings bonanza — to lay out his message in disciplined, audience-by-audience focused fashion... Five stars for all the Trumps...

Pretend to be neutral, but most of the guests were anti-Trump. He didn’t like Trump, and still doesn’t

Hewitt is the guy who was pushing Romney as the savior of the Republican party in 2012. He even wrote a book about Romney as president, and on Election Day was all excited about the ‘imminent’ Romney victory. Then Mittens got his clock cleaned by Obama and Hewitt was suddenly on to other topics.

I pretty much stopped listening to him at that point.

Is that all you got from the excerpt?

Well, actually I read the whole article but I digress. The day after the speech, the reports were endless about "what a long speech it was... longest in over 4 decades" etc. etc. etc. So Hewitt says he "milked his long speech"....even though that comment had nothing to do with the point of the article. Milked it? Speeches get long when there is lots of applause...

So what is your point?

Of the Salem lineup, I would say Dennis Prager is not a fan but is fair, and consistently professes his intention to vote for Trump. Larry Elder is probably Trump’s biggest defender on the network, Hewitt is indeed the biggest weasel, and Medved is just unlistenable with his constant whiney bashing. Levine is somewhat more supportive but far more critical then Prager.

Talk about delusional? Delusional = Juan Williams!

Can’t help but wonder what it is that makes Dems/leaning Dems be so set on their views and Conservatives/lean Republican be so set on our views? The stark, polar opposites in world views is stunning. Yet, he is so smug and sure he’s right, and we are so damn sure we are right (although with much less smugness). Strange world in which we live.

He went on for weeks that we were headed for a contested convention, so smug in his belief that Cruz would sweep Indiana and go on to take Washington, Oregon and put CA in play. Talk about being so off the mark in his “predictions.”

I miss Bill Bennett.

Some of us aren’t fooled by Hugh Hewitt one bit.

Hewitt arrived here in SoCal with his carpet bag back when we were in the middle of the Prop 187 fight in 1994.

Prop 187 was the first attempt in the country for grassroots voters to do something about the illegal alien flood for those who don’t remember.

Well Hugh Hewitt sided with the illegals and his GOPe treason lobby pals against the grassroots California conservatives who worked hard to pass Prop 187. And that tells you what Hugh Hewitt is at his core and always has been. He’s a court flunky of the GOP-establishment that supports, that he is part of, and which he tries to pass off as “conservative” to his audience. It was no surprise back then when the LA PBS outlet hired him as their house “conservative”, it was like the New York Times hiring David Brooks.

Not crazy about him, but Mike Gallagher, also on same radio network, has been all in for Trump.

I still listen to a lot of the Salem line-up and agree with your observations about these hosts.

Hewitt is the biggest weasel, he's anti-Trump but has been throwing it out there of late since Cruz beclowned himself the simple fact that it's the Donald or Hillary.

I even heard Levin say an hour ago he's gonna vote for Trump.

Mike Gallagher in the mornings hasn't ever been a NeverTrumper that I recall.

Very late @ nite, Salem has some douchebag Steve Deace who says it's un-Christian and evil to vote for Trump.

Compared to Cleveland and NE Ohio,

"I've been coming to conventions as a journalist since 2000. This was by far the best organized, easiest to reach, easiest to pass through security, staffed by the most welcoming people, most helpful yet vigilant team of law enforcement I have ever encountered at such a venue."

one can be sure that on the whole he'd rather NOT be in Philadelphia.

Two weeks ago I heard Hugh Hewitt declare “We have GOT to elect Donald Trump.” He contrasted Trump’s prospective judicial nominations with those of Hillary Clinton. I have to give Hewitt credit for supporting Trump as soon as his nomination became inevitable, and I welcome his support in the general election. All votes matter.
