Robert Kagan and other Neocons are Backing Hillary Clinton
The Intercept-Unofficial Sources ^ | July 25, 2016 | Rania Khalek

AS HILLARY CLINTON puts together what she hopes will be a winning coalition in November, many progressives remain wary — but she has the war hawks firmly behind her.

“I would say all Republican foreign policy professionals are anti-Trump,” leading neoconservative Robert Kagan told a group gathered around him, groupie-style, at a “foreign policy professionals for Hillary” fundraiser I attended last week. “I would say that a majority of people in my circle will vote for Hillary.”

As the co-founder of the neoconservative think tank Project for the New American Century, Kagan played a leading role in pushing for America’s unilateral invasion of Iraq and insisted for years afterward that it had turned out great.

Despite the catastrophic effects of that war, Kagan insisted at last week’s fundraiser that U.S. foreign policy over the last 25 years has been “an extraordinary success.”............

Trump has helped us identify all the people who are more interested in preserving and protecting their institutions than in preserving and protecting our country and its citizens.

I agree, their institutions and $$$ flow. They are scared that Trump is going to turn over the feeding trough.

I can’t find a consistent definition for “neoconservatism,” so I refuse to buy any of the theses of this piece.

The closest I can find consistently is favoring international interventionism.

These people -- including especially the "never-Trump" people -- are blinded by their emotions -- their selfishness -- from the cold, hard fact that the only way we have to protect the Constitution this year is by electing Donald Trump ... and the Constitution needs our protection.

Although it's true we're not certain of Trump'ss conservative bona fides, we are fully aware of what Clinton and the Left will do. There can be no doubt about the Left's plans to "fundamentally transform" our wonderful Republic.

So while these "neocons/nevertrump-ers" may be pleased with their decision to not compromise on their principles, they are doing so at a cost that is too great to bear -- they are abetting the destruction of our Constitution, the very foundation of their "principles".

The decision to be made is not at all difficult. We must defend the Constitution at all costs ... even if it means not getting the ideal conservative government we so desperately seek.

Thank Rush Limbo... He worships the neo-cons.. And to question their intellectual propositions was considered anti-Semitic. I even bought into that bs back then.. But after watching reality of what happens when their solutions become public policy, as well as their mental melt down over Trump it has become obvious they do not care what happens to American citizens.

Hillary is just an extension of the Clinton-Bush political dynasty. Neo-cons don’t care which one is in power, they win either way.

Kagan better watch out. His friend, Hillary, has surrogats asserting that ISIS is Bush’s fault, that the toppling of Saddam Hussein is what lead to ISIS.

Kagan who?

From the right side of the search page when his name is run via Bing

"Robert Kagan is an American historian, author, columnist, and foreign-policy commentator. Kagan is often characterized as a leading neoconservative, but prefers to call himself a "liberal interventionist"."

He's a pot stirrer who knows that having the word "conservative" as part of his "creds" makes it more likely that some idiots will pay attention to what he says....

“...never-Trump people...blinded...”

Very well written analysis.

These types actually are compromising their principles by their actions if they “stay home”.

Anyone claiming to be a principled, constitutionalist, scholarly, elite type who would then let Hillary win by default and thereby pick the next “legislate-from-the-bench” leftward agenda driven Supreme Court Justices is NOT standing on principle at all.

We have EVERY reason to believe Trump’s statement that he will pick justices who will stick to the constitution when deciding cases. There is NO reason to doubt this, and this is the reason that is perfectly possible to stand “on principle” and voting Trump.

To claim otherwise is B.S.

Robert and Fred are sons of Donald Kagan, professor of history at Yale and author of many books on Greek history. Donald was born in Lithuania but I doubt concern for Lithuania is the starting point of their foreign policy views.

Robert Kagan’s wife is Clinton’s own Victoria Nuland.
