Glenn Beck, Erick Erickson Plot to Subvert the Will of the People to Elect Romney
Breitbart News ^ | July 28, 2016 | Dan Riehl

Posted on 07/29/2016 11:10:51 AM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

Appearing on Glenn Beck’s radio show on Wednesday, Never Trump leader Erick Erickson mused on yet another scheme to foist Mitt Romney on the American electorate this year.

If one can wade through Glenn Beck and Erick Erickson discussing wild-eyed conspiracy theories involving GOP nominee Donald Trump and Russia and their claims that they are among the few remaining Americans who still believe in the Constitution, you will hear some serious crazy as Beck, his co-hosts, and Erickson elaborate on a strategy to derail the GOP nominee and throw the November Presidential election to the House of Representatives to decide.

The theory, as explained by Beck’s co-host Stu Burguiere, is to run a “conservative” candidate in two to three deep red states “where Hillary Clinton has no chance of winning,” so that Trump can’t get to the 270 electoral vote threshold needed to win, thereby throwing the election to the House of Representatives, assuming that Hillary doesn’t win outright.

Their dream “conservative” candidate seems to be Mitt Romney — but only because “Paul Ryan is the Speaker of the House,” and therefore unavailable. They never do get around to accounting for the widespread unpopularity of both these men across the GOP base. But then their plan isn’t genuinely rooted in democracy anyway.

Tell your friends to look more closely at Donald Trump. He is far, far more instinctively Conservative than anyone else running for President this year. He also has the intelligence to recognize what is absolutely the most essential single issue of the campaign. Without putting America First, we are doomed to the fate of those nations still committed to an insane internationalism on the European continent.

See Donald Trump: The Issue.

No matter what other issues your friends concentrate on. Unless we reassert that only Americans will make the decisions for us, we are doomed to losing our control of our own future.

He'd be better off endorsing Gary Johnson. That might actually garner the Johnson-Weld ticket another 10,000 votes nationwide.

If the Mitt-wit ran himself, he'd be lucky to break 5,000.

Sounds rather Rube Goldbergish, but it's doubtful that they could find a "conservative" candidate that a) is willing to go along with such a scheme, and b) would have enough gravitas to corral enough votes to win a state's electors.

If Romney were a stock, he would be delisted from the pink sheets by now.

Far from getting upset, I just get a mild chuckle and eye roll over these stories anymore. As has demonstrated time and time again, Beck, Erickson and Romney are powerless to do anything, if they could have done something you can bet they would have already. They have no base, no money, no political organization, they are no more than relevant than a couple of drunk guys down at the local bar mumbling and griping about politics and how they are going to fix it all.

Romney has only the “guts” to backstab,
abuse dogs, and fake badges.

Romney has always been a “no show”,
yellow to the core - waiting like Hillary for her/his
coronation.

I’m shocked Lyin’ Canuck Ted wasn’t a part of that intellectual discussion.

Sore loser laws in a lot of states. Besides, these “conservatives” are just being a spoiler. They prefer Hillary to Trump and are trying to put her in the WH.

Johnson is around 10% in a lot of polls. He only needs to get to 15% to get on the debate stage. That is what these never Trump guys really want at this point. Their problem is Johnson is such a whack job.

Absolutely agree. Its no longer just a GOP vs Dem issue, nor a conservative vs. liberal issue...its now nationalist vs. globalist.

No, it can work...

What silly nonsense, I thought when I read the article's headline. But then I read the article itself. You're right, it could work.

MORMONS are unrelentless in their quest to see MITT ROMNEY fulfill the White Horse Prophecy. (ROMNEY, a direct descendant of JOSEPH SMITH, JR., must be their best shot at it.)

The White Horse Prophecy is a statement purported to have been made in 1843 by Joseph Smith, Jr., founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, regarding the future of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and the United States of America. The Latter Day Saints, according to the prophecy, would “go to the Rocky Mountains and ... be a great and mighty people”, identified figuratively with the White Horse described in the Book of Revelation. The prophecy further predicts that the United States Constitution will one day “hang like a thread” and will be saved “by the efforts of the White Horse”.

Some have speculated, on the basis of the White Horse Prophecy, that Mormons expect the United States to eventually become a theocracy dominated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).[2][3] The authenticity of the prophecy as a whole, which was not made public until long after Smith’s death, is debated, and the leadership of the LDS Church has stated that “the so-called ‘White Horse Prophecy’ ... is not embraced as Church doctrine.” However, the belief that members of the LDS Church will one day need to take action to save the imperiled U.S. Constitution has been attributed to Smith in several sources and has been discussed in an approving fashion by Brigham Young and other LDS leaders.

Yeah, because Mitt Romney is so much more conservative than Donald Trump.

They (Romney and Beck) both are brothers of the magic underwear. That's all they care about.

Is Erick Mormon? Glenn thought Cruz was the fulfillment of Mormon Prophecy....and that may be why he is so hateful to Trump. It is becoming apparent to me that they want to be the ones to help usher this prophecy in. That’s why its Romney again(?)
