US productivity unexpectedly drops for a third-straight quarter

Uh Oh! Someone in the 0bama regime was on vacation or "forgot" to massage the figures to placate the peasants and help Her Thighness, Madam Hillary Benghazi pull off the big steal.

In manufacturing the only thing still going is automotive, and to be honest not a single person I have talked to can understand why.

The best weather-vane I know of is the auction sheets I get in every day, and there has been a big uptick in them lately. Northern Texas and California is leading the numbers it seems, but everywhere is seeing some increases now.

Some manufacturing is going strong, but not new product development, mostly just running current supply is what is keeping it going. Everyone seems to think it’s the election causing it, but I’m not too sure. I think there are some smart people who can read the tea leaves and see what’s coming, tucking away enough capital to make it through the crapstorm that is on the horizon no matter who wins now.

Obama’s ‘best economy in 40 years’ continues — to disappoint.

Anticipated media coverage and manipulated data:

If the Dems win in November, the ‘boom’ will continue. If Trump wins, the economy will be a disaster by the end of January.

Gee, what are the odds? You mean strangling taxation and 1000 page restrictions and rules are bad for business?

The usual "escape language".. UNEXPECTEDLY.

They put out PHONY projections. Then, when NOT met, they say that the UNEXPECTED happened.

Gee.. how damn long before the brain-dead public wakes up? /s

How does productivity decline? The base of capital equipment didn’t change and, no doubt, more modern equipment was installed that would boost productivity. I guess that companies must be keeping their workers during order downturns. That sure runs contrary to the standard storyline about cold-hearted corporations firing people.

I’ve worked for companies that ruthlessly matched the headcount to orders. As soon as orders declined, people were let go, usually in quiet trickles rather than one massive bloodletting. But every quarter, it was “Hey, where did Bob go? Why didn’t Fred show up for work? Has anybody seen Sally lately? Is Gina on vacation again?”

We’ve had a massive slow down in phone calls for our business. It reminds me of the recession. Phones ringing like crazy one day and they just stop the next day.

We still have a backlog, but it’s a little concerning.

That’s a classic! Haven’t seen it in years (since the Obama “stimulus” that didn’t stimulate).

When Trump wins, the word “unexpected” will again be applied to good news as it was for Bush

Everything that goes wrong for Obama is “unexpected” since he can do no wrong.

Well, he did make a reasonable critique of his golf game. And his swing still sucks.

Unexpectedly?

What did you expect would happen after the passage of Obamacare? Of course GDP will drop.

The election could be causing some of it. Trump is proposing a RADICAL break from business as usual. If your business plan put all of your eggs in the Globalist basket this is surely giving you pause.

I agree.

And if you look at the players, the Bush folks and the Obama folks tag-teamed to hand this situation to us.

As much as I detest Clinton, he pretty much left the economy alone during his term in office.

The problem with him was that he helped entrench the Free Trade at any cost mindset, and that bore fruit from 2000 on.

Bush was too stupid to figure it out. Obama was thrilled to watch our nation sucked dry.
