The striking thing is not that they live in a fantasy world, but that so many people have stepped outside the bubble and are seeing the fantasy for what it is.

Bush43 had many opportunities to crush the Dhimmicrats after 9/11 but he played “politics as usual” and tried to get them to go along.
That’s a political war he lost.
Trump gave great speeches after Orlando and the speech he made about Hillary, but they didn’t get much press.
Trying to make EVERY photo into evidence of her decrepitude doesn’t help.

Then who the hell cares what he thinks?
He was up against a slew of professional empty-suit politicians and knew he had to differentiate himself from the crowd, while also keeping himself in the news. He got millions in free advertising doing this.

When Bush pushed ethanol on us and let Ted Kennedy own his education agenda he really made us mad. When he partnered with the Grifters Clinton and started calling them his relatives, he totally lost us for good, no matter what Bush.

If I were responsible for his campaign, I would work some of these shots into his ads.
Re: the ground game perceived lack- I quit second guessing Trump back in the spring. Now I don’t cringe when he says or does something that once would have appeared off or silly. He has shown time after time that his sense of what works and what it is time for is probably better than anyone else’s in the public field.
