I created the burkini to give women freedom, not to take it away

When I invented the burkini in early 2004, it was to give women freedom, not to take it away. My niece wanted to play netball but it was a bit of a struggle to get her in the team – she was wearing a hijab. My sister had to fight for her daughter to play, had to debate the issue and ask, why is this girl prevented from playing netball because of her modesty?

My understanding is that only the prophets wives were required to wear full cover. Everything else is just being a copy cat, misogenist, or whatever. The only good thing about cover in these windy dusty countries that don’t have much water is that it protects the hair and keeps it from needing to be washed so often.

You don’t understand anything about islam do you?

Ever read the koran? The hadiths?

Do you not understand that EVERY shia and sunni muslim believes that EVERY government must come under sharia law?

That makes EVERY muslim anathema to every other culture on the planet.

We were stationed in Bahrain for a year and I saw something that I thought was really cool..

During a rare rain and hail storm there were two young girls out side my apartment, they removed the top of their hijabs so they could get their hair and faces wet, and they lifted their robes high so that they could catch the hail. They were having a blast.

Although, when we had rain, houses in our neighborhoods would catch fire.

I purchased cigs in NJ this morning. The clerk told me women don’t smoke in “his” country.

Did you ask him if they are queer free too?
