Walmart’s family bathrooms are a suitable compromise. Whether a father taking a 3 year old to the bathroom, woman helping husband with the facilities or mentally ill man in there alone, it doesn’t bother anyone else.
* If he feels like a woman, he gets to use women’s bathrooms.
* If he feels like a woman, he gets to use women’s showers and changing rooms.
* If he identifies as a woman, he gets to use the women’s dorms.
* If he identifies as female, he has the right to use women’s shelters.
* If he identifies as female, you can’t apply a male dress code to him.
* If he feels like a female, he can share the girls’ accommodations on an overnight trip.
To add to the insanity of the Title 9 abuse:
* parents don’t have the right to know their child is presenting at school as the opposite gender
* the child or adult doesn’t have to provide medical evidence of having transitioned or even a diagnosis of transgenderism - you say it, they have to accommodate you
* the gender fluid category allows you to say you’re a boy today, girl tomorrow
* criticism of the concept of transgenderism or men abusing it faces the same kangaroo trials as the “rape tribunals” colleges are having; this is separate from a number of people like Dr. Paul McHugh losing their jobs for bringing up that 90%+ of “transgender” children lose those feelings
* in California, New York and I think Massachusetts, if your son says he’s your daughter, you are not legally allowed to get professional help beyond “yes, son, you’re a girl, let’s give hormones”

I’ve already dealt with a mentally ill man sexually harassing me in the bathroom (at now former employer). It kept seeking to go to the restroom when I did, following me when I went to the other side of the building to avoid it. (I was one of the only women on the floor, only one in IT, and it seemed to need the validation of not just in the women’s bathroom but with a female.)
It asked if I was avoiding it and I said yes, because I don’t like sharing a bathroom with IT. It started commenting on how his longer hair, flowery dress, did up makeup and nails made me more of a woman than me. I didn’t reply, so it challenged me, “What do you think makes you more of a woman than me?” “I gave birth to two children and you fathered a son.” It went ballistic, and later I found out it started direct work interference messing with my account access.
When I took it up to HR, they took his side. When it escalated, they still took his side. I took it to ethics, and they referred me back to HR. Only when we had a system outage and I didn’t have the options in my menus to fix it, and it wouldn’t help, did a different system admin get called in. The third party looked at it, fixed it, and I demanded he look at my screen. He asked how I didn’t have all the options, and I said my access has been fluctuating for ages. I took a screen shot, he looked up my permissions and the access control log. Yep, weirdo had been messing with my permissions on a daily basis. I took a screen shot, then sent it to multiple managers and HR and ethics so that no one could turn it into a he-said-she-said-it-said debate. You messed with my access and caused an outage to last two hours longer than it had to.
Then and only then was I able to get reassigned to other duties that didn’t involve IT.
